Owen Freeman on the outs?

The PP incident may have hurt attendance in 2003, 2004, etc. It probably did. Then there was Todd Lickliter..
Fran had CHA's average attendance back up to over 14K+ 2014-15 or so. Fans were starting to come back for a time there, but it has tailed off again and seems to be seriously trending downwards as of late.
We can debate all day long the causes for the attendance woes, but Pierre Pierce has f@ck all to do with the attendance problems in 2025. Same for Todd Lickliter. Those are just excuses at this point. This is Fran's program now, and has been for a very long time.
IMO, there is simply a deep apathy in the fanbase as it relates to men's hoops. Who saw the atmosphere at CHA yesterday for the women's game with USC? Caitlin being in the house surely helped, but you don't see anything like this on the men's side these days. The program and fanbase needs a shot in the arm.

Iowa basketball has been in a dream/nightmare sequence for the past 30-40 or so years. Zero BT championships since 1970 (outright) or 1979 (tied), take your pick. Last Final Four 45 years ago. Last Elite Eight 38 years ago. Last Sweet Sixteen 26 years ago. At some point everyone must face the reality that Iowa is a school that plays basketball, but Iowa is not a basketball school. At this point, Iowa shouldn't be nibbling around the edges to improve.
The only possible bad news at this point is that Fran will be getting another year. Nothing else really matters as far as player retention.
Looking forward to more Payton Sandfort hero ball. I predict he puts the team on his shoulders and averages a triple D the rest of the year!
Finger injury… I’m sorry but this has transfer written all over. Back in the day I played most of my senior season with a fractured wrist! It was painful as hell but you only have so many games to play. Maybe I’m overthinking but this type of injury shouldn’t end someone’s season…
I agree, tape it up and play through. There's a difference between pain & injury. What's his portal value? Is he going end up at Butler?
I'm in no position to question anyone's injury. If they say it's season ending, then I accept that because I certainly don't know any more than the experts around Owen.
I guess it's bad luck but the truth is that this team wasn't going anywhere with or without Owen Freeman anyway.
Hope he makes a full recovery.

Good question. I have no answer. Usually there will be an article saying that the injury occurred "2nd half of such and such game" or during practice, or something like that. The press release gives no details.. 🤷♂️
He’s already told the coaches he’s transferring. He’s basically using this as an excuse to “opt out”
The team wasn’t going anywhere. But still kind of a soft move to quit on everybody if you ask me. Garza’s freshman team was terrible and he still gave 100% until the bitter end. He would’ve never sat due to a finger injury
If I wanted to watch something revolting and way over priced I would pick up some bootlegged Maxine Waters 70s porn off the clearance rack much faster than Iwould pay to watch a Fran Coached Team ever again .

There’s no way to know for sure but do you think Garza would have stayed at iowa his senior year if another school was offering to pay him a lot more money knowing he was a fringe NBA player at the moment?

I’m sure it needed immediate attention, nothing to do with him potentially transferring next year.
