So 2 out of 12?It was very good, not denying that but a couple guys when off. He’s for sure an upgrade on what we have but his addition alone will barely move the meter. Casey Thompson 278 and 3 TDs, Stroud 286 and 4 TDs,

How many teams in the country are going to beat Oregon and PSU… I just want to see this team compete in those big games and not get blown out! Gronk is a stud and would be the best portal get this team has had in a long time! Wash St is the team to beat in my opinion for his services
Yes, 2 of 12 lit up maybe the best defense we ever had. I’m just saying even Sully threw for 160 and 2 TDS. Of everyone on our schedule that season, Gronowski arguably performed the worst. Again, let me say, I’m glad we’re taking our shot, I just don’t expect that much better results with him as our QB.So 2 out of 12?
I spent time with Him up here in Calgary when He was the Stamps QB, He had a ton of stories . It helped I was wearing a Iowa hoodie at the pub on the red mile .I remember sitting and having a beer with Tate at Solon Beef days. Dude was a comedian.
I never met an Iowa football fan who underappreciated Tate.Tate was outstanding, under appreciated by most Hawk fans.
Look at Drake basketball. He’s an fcs player, not knocking him but Iowa bombed big time on a big 10 qb in the portal and now this guy is the greatest thing ever? I’ve watched him, he is really good against fcs guys but does it translate? Be cool if it did
I’m happy to see us take a shot but just a reminder, he’s played in kinnick once before. 10/26 for 87 yards and 10 carries for -21 yards. Yes, I know this was 2 years ago but just a reminder, his history is against FCS talent.
So we can agree that he crapped the bed against a really good defense. He’s still going to have an average OL and a below average receiver group. So he might take us from a 6-7 win team to an 8-9 win team. Still don’t see us beating a Penn St or an Oregon without many other upgrades.
We get it, dude. You’re not gonna be happy unless Patrick Mahomes wants to transfer here. The best QB at the FCS level is typically an NFL caliber QB, or at least a quality P4 QB. This would be by far our biggest catch of the portal era if it were to happen. It was very good, not denying that but a couple guys when off. He’s for sure an upgrade on what we have but his addition alone will barely move the meter. Casey Thompson 278 and 3 TDs, Stroud 286 and 4 TDs,
Agreed. He’s always listed as one of the best QBs under KFz.I never met an Iowa football fan who underappreciated Tate.
Nope, completely missing the point. I’m happy with him as I said multiple times. The problem is one guy isn’t enough, it won’t fix a below average receiver group and an average OL group. We get it, dude. You’re not gonna be happy unless Patrick Mahomes wants to transfer here. Josh Allen also didn’t play that great against our defense and in Kinnick.I’m happy to see us take a shot but just a reminder, he’s played in kinnick once before. 10/26 for 87 yards and 10 carries for -21 yards. I don't think the offense is done with WR transfer targets, it's obvious OT is a spot they are looking at as well.Nope, completely missing the point. I’m happy with him as I said multiple times. As much as I feel Lester likes what he has but wants to add to it I agree with you. Brendan Sullivan still has a key role to play on this team maybe going back to the red zone packages and backup. I really like what we would have behind them in Jimmy Sullivan, Brown and Stratton. If this happens the transformation of the QB room seems nothing short of remarkable.I don't know anything about the guy other than some gaudy stats, but yeah, I'd be really comfortable with Sully in a QB2 role next year. I think that's where Lester is at as well.

Happy to have Sully as a solid backup, but I am not sold on anyone else in the QB room. I would have much preferred to have kept Marco in comparison to bringing Brown in.As much as I feel Lester likes what he has but wants to add to it I agree with you. Huh?!?Tate was outstanding, under appreciated by most Hawk fans.
The difference is Cade was coming off an injury and had been beaten out at Michigan. He’s an fcs player, not knocking him but Iowa bombed big time on a big 10 qb in the portal and now this guy is the greatest thing ever? I’ve watched him, he is really good against fcs guys but does it translate? Be cool if it did
shhh we are not allowed to have positive thoughts here, please delete and go atone for your sinsIf He can lead Iowa to a good Offensive Season in the Shanahan offense He will be a 1st round pick and Him committing will make it much easier to land portal WRs and maybe His WR1 Wilde I would think, Iowa is a QB and real WR threat away from being a real problem on the offensive side.
You think Mahomes is an option? What kind of NIL package are we talking about here?We get it, dude. You’re not gonna be happy unless Patrick Mahomes wants to transfer here. The best QB at the FCS level is typically an NFL caliber QB, or at least a quality P4 QB. This would be by far our biggest catch of the portal era if it were to happen.

That were mostly set under Hayden Fry and Forest Evashevski.I bet Kirk is showing off all the Big Ten passing records Iowa QB's hold
This is pretty much where I am at. I like Sullivan and can see some upside with him but Gronowski is just an overall better player imo. I don't think you break the bank on him but you do what you have to do to get him. If that means that we take his WR buddy as well, so be it. Not only does he have all the tools for our offense, he also has played in some high pressure situations. People can look down on that level of football all they want, but it is the real deal and he played at a MVP level.I’m not usually a “put all your eggs in one basket” kind of guy, and I’ve posted a few weeks ago that if Sully is QB1, I’m good with it. Sully is fine, but I doubt he would make it through a full season without getting hurt. There’s some pocket presence stuff that is missing, but I digress.
Gronowski changes my tune. Get him. If we can outbid whoever else wants him, do it. He’s an excellent player, and would change our offense instantly.
Sully has shown he can do exactly that, and I love that kid, but if Iowa can upgrade, do it.100 percent, you saw flashes this year and with a full spring of Lester ball and a QB who can move and run RPO, the Iowa offense can certainly wake up!
In spite of KF. I loved all three, but especially CJ.Tate , Stanzi , and Beathard were pretty good Iowa QBs
I don't necessarily disagree, but if you've been watching the bowls and the CFP, many, many top QBs are running all over the place and taking big hits. Nobody can play football well if you're afraid of getting hurt, and that includes the QB. Many of these guys are tough as nails, and the broadcasters have been profuse in their praise of that style while noting the potential for injury. That's why you have more than one QB, more than one RB, more than one everything. He would be great for next year, but if Lester wants to implement his offense, with all the pieces, ultimately he needs a guy who can grow into the program, so he's not starting over every year. I like Sullivan, but agree with others, I don't think he can survive a whole season without an injury given his style of play.
I would rather the a guy moving up then someone who moving because he couldn’t beat out a starter somewhere wise. There are exceptions to that rule (Joe Burrow) but more times than not, I think it’s a better way to go.He’s an fcs player, not knocking him but Iowa bombed big time on a big 10 qb in the portal and now this guy is the greatest thing ever? I’ve watched him, he is really good against fcs guys but does it translate? Be cool if it did
We also need him to take sacks at the worst possible time.can he hand the ball off and throw behind the sticks on 3rd and 8 ?
If so, he's our guy!
this would be HUGE!
