If the Rose, Cotton, Fiesta, and Orange had been the quarterfinals this year, as I have proposed, then next week we'd have the semis featuring Stanford vs. Alabama and Ohio State vs. Clemson. Winners a week later for the national title.

Wouldn't it be fun to see McCaffrey against Alabama, and Henry against Stanford?

OSU-Clemson would be a good one, too.

Then maybe Stanford-OSU for the national title.

Devil's advocate:Stanford lost to NW and had things fall their way against ND a game they all most lost which would have been their 3rd.
tOSU had Sparty at home with out Conner Cook and still lost. Buckeye didn't win their division because of it.

Not saying Stanford and Bucknuts weren't deserving but the 2 best teams are playing in the National title game.

This year only deserves a 2 team playoff, and we'll see it next week.

8 is way too many. Hell, 4 was too many this year.

Had there been a 8-team playoff, both Alabama and OSU wouldn't have been in final 4...... It would have been seeded #1 Clemson vs #8 ND, #2 Alabama vs #7 OSU, #3 MSU vs #6 Stanford and #4 Ok vs #5 Iowa

That's a whole bunch of teams that have absolutely no business playing for a national title.
