Hard to beat 5 on 8. Sure seemed that way tonight.

The effort.
This should have been a Rutgers blowout with our offensive struggles. The Hawks’ defense tonight was outstanding and it kept them in the game. Not happy with the outcome but happy with how they battled.

They have a better record than I expected, with one big ten road win. I expected none.
were you watching a different game than the rest of us because the rest of us were watching really bad offense and worse coaching combined with some crooked refs. nothing fun about that.
Rutgers offense sucks too. Don’t get ahead of yourself praising the Hawk D. They’re lucky RU doesn’t have alot of scoring either
@markfromj is basically the antithesis to @blhawk as far as posters go on here.
mark will give you the optimistic take on most things and tell you to look on the brightside and shame you when you're trying not to, while also occasionally ignoring glaring issues to justify his case, hence what we have here with @markfromj being happy, in his words in his OP, with this team (although he didn't necessarily specify Iowa's performance tonight).
This was far from a fun game. Watching Iowa struggle offensively and have to teeth clench hoping Rutgers continued to suck on offense as well, wasn't a fun viewing experience any realistic person would partake in enjoying.
Only people like mark, who almost seem to be optimistic just to be annoying, would say what he said.
On the flip side, take everything I said about mark............and just turn it into a pessimistic angle, and you have @blhawk .
And that includes the part about him being so overtly pessimistic that it comes across as deliberately annoying (i.e. for the sake of it).
I hope that synopsis helps people going forward when they try to rationalize the posts from these two veterans of Hawkeye Report.......
Rutgers also has half a team that seems like they've been playing there as long as JBo has............
Perhaps that explains things. Both JBo, and all of Rutgers 30 year old players have worn down through the years to the point where they're shells of themselves compared to when they were fresh young athletes in their prime and being talked about as potential NBA/G League prospects.

This team has major problems, and Fran has taken them as far as he is capable. It ain’t gonna get any better.
Iowa’s a team whose offense thrives on freedom of movement and getting to the line and got neither tonight. Despite that, we put together a complete game on defense for the first time all year and lost on the last possession due to the touchiest foul the refs called all game. On the road where Rutgers is tough anyways, this wasn’t one I was expecting to get and one we didn’t need. Gotta bounce back on Saturday, however
Why try to piss on the dudes cornflakes bro? I don’t get it - yes we lost but these kids are playing tough ball- of course the W is the most important but if you ask anyone that would of had Iowa 13-4 this time of the season they probably would think you have a screw loose… I wish they would of won, yes it left a bad taste in my mouth but they had their chances and hell yes they played hard and never gave up

Did we play good d? Ok yes. But our missed shots looked nothing like Rutgers. Ours were contested last second shots that were often blocked. Rutgers generally just missed.
I am indeed an optimist. But I do indeed post often to annoy the chronic pessimists, on any topic.
Being a pessimist is so lazy. They often pretend to be so savvy, edgy, knowing. They are really just miserable people.
It is cowardly to be a pessimist.
This is equivalent to justifying happiness following Spencer Petras’ 56% completion rate, with an out-of-left-field creation of:
“Well, I expected 46%”
I would’ve liked to see our leader, Keegan, grab the ball and take it to the rack at least once in the last few minutes. JBO shooting airballs was not the answer.

We're a third of the way thru the BIG season. So, you must be a glass 1/3 full kinda person.
Harper scored 31 in the last game. No one seems to mention the great defensive job Keegan did on him last night. We should have been in OT if the arrogant ref hadn't decided to decide the game on what should have been a no call.
