Hello my friends,

Today being October 1st, I figured I would tell you all the important huge news that I have.

Many of you know I have been to Ukraine on humanitarian missions and how much I try to help.

Well last week I gave my notice to my well paying company with my last day being October 31st.

I have accepted a job with a non profit in Ukraine to help the tens of thousands upper limb patients who are currently waiting a year to year and a half to get care. I might be crazy but with my skills I am one of a few who could and would do this.

Will be based in Poland and spend 2-3 weeks in Ukraine. They are covering my apartments in both Ukraine and Poland. Will start the first week of November.

My wifey (no pics) will be joining a few weeks later with the dog.

I don't know, as no one does, what the future holds. While I have not met most of you I feel I know you. I enjoy the rapport. The love to discuss and call each other out. Thanks for accepting the refugees from Warchant. Hope fsu finally gets in to the B1G.

Will post and interact but I feel I will be losing a community.

Cheers my friends.

Eric or as know as Epik in Ukraine.

That is wild. Bless you, man. Making a difference in lives of those in need on the other side of the world. Slava Ukraini.

Tip of cap to op for having the balls to make such a move. Are you like close to retirement? clearly wife is onboard, how bout kids? and does regular stateside life not give you a high anymore? so many questions :)
that said, post from out there whenever you can. good luck bon voyage

Oh yes... But there are always trade offs..i am sure there will some here. Fortunately Ukrainian in their 20-30 are incredibly hot.
I’m sure you’ll feel compelled to not take a break knowing how many people can use your help, but for yourself and the wife, take advantage of being in that corner of the world and stop to check it out every once and awhile.

Not close enough to retirement. I have been in the profession of prosthetics for pretty much all my life. I have officially been a clinician for 31 years. I am a young 54 so I have a few good years left.

I was at a crossroads. I was paid well and I was needed. Yet unfulfilled. I worked for a huge company and couldn't stand the bs of bureaucracy. They are so much about profit over good patient care it kills me.

I read this book From Strength to Strength. I highly recommend it. It show you that if you just stay on your path you will be unfulfilled and not satisfied. Written by a social scientist. It's fantastic.

Here I am trying to leave my rather comfortable life for the unknown.

We get to travel all over Europe for like like than 75-100 dollars total flights for both.

your brain seems very young and appears to work like a idealistic 21 year olds brain :)
i will checkout that book for sure though it worries me a bit that it might afflict ordinary me with a desire to be extraordinary

No. It really has to do with what makes you happy. Most of us are complacent. We climb the corporate ladder and then what live out our lives wondering what if.

Look at Darwin. He made the most incredible theory in history in his 30's. He was miserable the rest of his life because nothing could be bigger than that.

You’re a Goddamn hero, I mean that in the most sincerest way. I wish we had more selfless people like yourself in this world.

I just feel I can help. There are over a hundred thousand amputees so far from this war. 27% are upper limb..
There are 3, Three, upper limb specialists in the country of Ukraine. I trained all of them. You see why I am going. This is bigger than me. I need to train and help. They have no ability to even catch up at this point.

dude makes a couple kick ass posts that make the rest of us look really bad. besides on hrot doesn't quantity trump quality? you sure about nominating him over one of our resident t&a virtuosos?
that said in order to avoid the banhammer i suppose i'll have to give you the green light. :)
