Maybe one of these centuries the Hawks can find themselves in a position like this. Perhaps Ohio State winning brings more credibility to the B1G. This year people were mad that 3 loss South Carolina and Ole Miss missed the cut. So with Michigan and Ohio State bringing you respect it could at least give a three loss Iowa a shot.

I think Iowa can get to the playoffs. But others are right, they need to start beating the teams at the top first. 9 straight losses to ranked opponents doesn’t cut it. Being king of the mole hill is better than nothing, but they have the resources to compete for the mountain, too.

Iowa’s chances to ever Win a NC has been slowing fading since the second half the USC Orange bowl in 2003. Now, with the 12 team playoff it is not even remotely possible.

Forget about the NIL, we are just not deep enough to ever make it that far. If our Cooper DeJean gets hurt, we have to replace him with some 2 star kid from Iowa or the Chicago suburbs who is not even ready. OSU/Blue Bloods can go 2 or 3 deep with 4/5 star freak athletes. 😢

I am not saying we can’t make the playoffs,
but we would be another Indiana/SMU and at best, an Arizona State team.😎

Hawks will never reach the playoffs let alone a title game. College football will be dominated by the big $$$$ and Hawks don't have it. Placing in the top half of the Big 10 will be hard enough. Oregon, OSU, Michigan, USC, PennSt and even Nebraska are spending big time $$$$$$$. Becoming toilet bowl eligible will be hard enough now.

Iowa can reach the CFP with it 12 or more teams. A National title is not possible. Iowa doesn't recruit at a high enough level. You can't have a recruiting ranking in the 40's and expect to compete for a National Championship.

The ND comeback was I think partially due to OSU playing soft to not get beat deep but they gave up some big pass plays. Also if you have the defenders OSU has why not blitz a time or two on those last four ND possesions. They thought they could get a sack with 4 rushers put it wasnt there.

I’m Irish also. Raised Catholic along with my 8 brothers and sisters. Catholic schooled K-12 by nuns and priests, alter boy, FCA, etc. but now former Catholic by choice. Enjoyed every minute of the ND beat down, only disappointed that OSU did not run up the score.
