Have we discussed Coach Prime going to Colorado?

The guy is dynamic. He can influence culture and mind. It will really be cool to see him influence kids and institutions in the PAC.
I would not bet against his program’s success.
Go Deion. Thanks for stepping up.
It appears that's what happened at JSU. Primetime Prep not so much.

My guess is Colorado was the only one desperate enough to give him free reign. Hence why he didn't end up at USF or wherever Sunbelt team. If that's still a thing. Colorado is still technically a P5 school. Although more likely headed to Mountain West merger.
You don’t think Colorado and Utah would go to the Big 12?

Utah probably. But does the big12 want the Buffs. Not sure how much value they would add to potential media rights. Utah, Iowa, etc don't have competition for the football dollar. Buffs best win now or nobody will want them. ASU is more attractive to the big12 than the Buffs currently.

Not from any point of real knowledge, but is the Colorado market not as big or bigger than the Utah market? Utah is on the western side of the divide, which brings West Coast eyes, I guess…

If he was able to bring higher talent down to the SWAC, don't you think he may be able to bring higher 4 and 5 star players down to Colorado? I dont know the answer but it should be fun to watch.
Yes he could, but so is everyone else he will be facing. That isn't the case in the SWAC.
It seems like an odd hire for Colorado. They have to know that if he wins too much, he will leave for a higher profile program. And if he doesn't win enough, the fans will criticize the hire. Either way, I would be surprised if he's there more than four years.

He's got something that very, very few other P5 head coaches have. Actually, none have. He's cool, he's hip to young people and he's an all-time great player. I mean, what's stopping him from having a #1 class next season? Who wouldn't want to play for him? All he's ever done is kick ass. In everything.

People are talking. He already has the buzz among recruits.

CU football was on life-support. The last thing they needed was to play it safe and hire some no-name assistant coach that excited nobody. If Deion leaves for a higher-profile program because he goes 26-10 and makes a couple bowls over the next three years, CU and fans will be absolutely thrilled.

So, will Colorado be pleased if he is able to jump start the program? They be hurtin.

I agree.

I am happy with Norvell at FSU, but curious how many Iowa fans would take Sanders over Kirk Ferentz, right now?

Compare this to any initial presser from any coach you've ever seen! Wow. I'm glad Colorado isn't in the B1G.

Yeah but the pac is falling apart
Where does Colorado go next if this rebuild does not produce fruit?
Not being snarky, but current trends suck for schools either without deep pockets/connections or with poor performing athletics.
I really miss the old dynamics of conference ties and strong independents (FSU when I was a kid), but that was then.

The SWAC dying was the start of a lot of shifting that kind of sucks. The big 8 needed those Texas teams to stay relevant in the changing landscape but man did a lot of good rivalries die in the end.

Yeah, but Arkansas leaving all of the Texas teams was understandable, and that accelerated the breakup(s).

They will get a team in the playoff every year when it goes to 12 teams. So will big 12.

The fact the athletes on campus will have in nicer in the big 10 and sec isn’t something I give a crap

I am kind of out of touch, but which 12 teams will the PAC and Big 12 have going forward?
Aren’t they both bleeding?

Prime prolly doesn't coach at all; he hires top assistants and spends his time selling the program, and he's damned good at it.

I hope Travis Hunter (top ranked recruit he flipped from FSU to JSO last year) enters the portal and comes back to us.

I would love to get him but I figure he will follow Deion to Colorado.

I feel bad for the guys who left major programs to go play for Deion at JSU, sin e they've used up their one "free transfer" & with him gone are either stuck there or will have to sit a year if they transfer again.

Does that put the “double transfers” back into the old system, essentially?

I believe that is the case. First transfer you are immediately eligible, second transfer you sit a year.
Well, his parents are alums, so there's that pressure too. Lot easier to see their kid play in Tallahassee than Colorado.

All new coaches have “buzz.” It’s the honeymoon period.

Deion’s fame and confidence will help recruiting at CU. As others have noted already, his star power is less important the further up he goes. At JSU, it was significant. At CU, it will be less significant, but it will still matter.

CU is paying him 6 million a year. That might have something to do with him not going to Sun Belt

Idk, recruiting isn't going to be the issue. It's going to be all about his assistants and development of talent. Colorado has been a doormat for awhile now it seems. Can see why they did it. Not going anywhere and if a coach does ok. He bolts anyway.
Yeah. All right.

I wasn’t of a fan of how he addressed the team- but I suppose some like that
