I admit I spend no time thinking about recipes, but that thread title is such a random collection of words. It's on par with asking if I've ever taken my pet alligator to a barber for speech therapy.

I'm guessing the wife and daughters like the crap that I hate. Nothing wrong with that. It just isn't my thing.
Yes, my 13 yo will only eat Hidden Valley, it’s fvcking ridiculous, and she eats it on every piece of meat she has. Seriously, steak, brats, chicken, hamburgers, pork chops, you name it, it has to have ranch or she won’t eat it. I feel like a failure as a father.

The only failure is you not making it from the dry packs with hellmann’s. Make some fresh and your daughter will look at you like a hero.

What brand of dry pack?
Ironically, hidden valley. And not the butter milk. The original seasoning. 3 packs to 2 cups Hellman’s and 2 cups milk. Mix it up and let it mingle in the fridge for an hour. It will thicken up. Then mix in a little more milk until you get the perfect consistency. I have made hundreds and hundreds of batches of this. It is a winner.

I figured as much. How is that different than the bottled stuff?

I don’t consider it to be the same food item. Milk, mayo, and spices compared to spices and whatever the f$ck it is that you can put on a warm shelf for years. I’m don’t even think the spices are the same. If the are, it is like using the same spice rub on a ribeye and ground up cow anus and saying the end product for both is grilled beef.
