Sounds like its coming together, Jan 1, 2
Hope we wrestle everyone, duals on 7th and 9th
Absolutely. I know there is a historic connection to the Midlands but this is two years in a row. There will always be a reason to exercise an “abundance of caution” and leave everyone holding their weasel.Iowa should never go back to the Midlands if this is successful
Oh, quit pouting or Mom will send you to your room without supper.Iowa should never go back to the Midlands if this is successful
FFS you weren’t kidding about ISU were ya.Any chance UNI and ISU will be a part of this? Or is ISU too busy preparing for their showdown with Northwest Kansas Technical?
Is that the Men's or Women's team they wrestle at Northwest Kansas Tech? 🤣Any chance UNI and ISU will be a part of this? Or is ISU too busy preparing for their showdown with Northwest Kansas Technical?
Ehh don’t like that, unless one tourney can’t hold all teams from midlandsWillie is tweeting about doing some other tournament too.
Yeah, I don't want 2 half ass tournaments.Ehh don’t like that, unless one tourney can’t hold all teams from midlands
Let’s see if UNI is really about any time anywhere.
5100What’s the capacity at the coralville arena? Sell it out.
Thanks. Sell it out. Suriano is going 125 for Michigan right? He should show up so we can see if he can eat with the big dog.5100
feels like this is exactly what’s going to happen. don’t see either side backing off at this point with all the social media talk out there.Yeah, I don't want 2 half ass tournaments.
Let’s do this!Iowa should never go back to the Midlands if this is successful
It appears Iowa, UNI, and Wisconsin are going to the Hawkeye open. Midlands has been pretty depleted already so I really don’t see how the Illinois tournament could have much quality at all. It sucks but it looks like both sides were planning this at the same time and probably didn’t know the other was working on it also until they were both committed.feels like this is exactly what’s going to happen. don’t see either side backing off at this point with all the social media talk out there.
Someone likes to be the center of attention.Instead of having one Midlands replacement, we'll most likely end up with two weaker tournaments because at this point there are egos on the line. F what's best for wrestling and go for personal glory.
Chicago is a hole. I got zero interest is trying to navigate around there. State of Illinois is run by buffoons. It appears Iowa, UNI, and Wisconsin are going to the Hawkeye open. i don't think uni and wisconsin are doing hawkeye open. i believe they are going to the midlands one.It appears Iowa, UNI, and Wisconsin are going to the Hawkeye open. I applaud you and all who are working to save the event. It’s rather sad that there wasn’t communication early enough between the two (three) sides trying to save it. I don’t know how this will all shake out but I do question the decision to keep the venue. The way things are trending you are likely to secure many teams to come and then have the state of Illinois cancel on you this time.i don't think uni and wisconsin are doing hawkeye open. i believe they are going to the midlands one.
UNI wasn't going to the Midlands before, so when did they decide to go to the Illinois Matmen version? Having two tournaments compete for the Midlands' scraps will provide plenty of drama for the Twittards,
everything happened so fast. as soon as midlands were canceled i was asked to help. i had no idea there was another event being discussed.I applaud you and all who are working to save the event. My friend, can you provide a link that talks to this other tournament that's being discussed. Not trying to dispute anything, just trying to remain informed. Thank you.everything happened so fast. as soon as midlands were canceled i was asked to help. i had no idea there was another event being discussed.
That’s what I’ve heard. Both sides had no clue the other side was working on this until it was too late. I wasn’t blaming anyone. Just sucks it turned out that way. I would still be nervous trying to host an event in a week in that state. I won’t be shocked if the state pulls the plug on it.everything happened so fast. as soon as midlands were canceled i was asked to help. i had no idea there was another event being discussed.
Smalls , this year is what it is , for wrestling fans any action will be positive at this point. I hope what comes of this is even a bigger better tournament at a modern facility with some big sponsorship. A window of opportunity just opened, let’s grow the sport.everything happened so fast. as soon as midlands were canceled i was asked to help. i had no idea there was another event being discussed.
But it could be a super spreader event for a cold!!!!Make. This. Happen.
