New Story ***Hawkeyes land Georgia RB Tyler Goodson***

Not gonna lie, never thought I would see the day when we'd land a running back out of Georgia with 30+ offers. Awesome job by the staff, again.
The last three recruiting cycles seem to be on a solid upswing. The great thing about Goodson is as a high school junior he already has the body the staff wanted Wadley to grow into. I see this young man contributing as a true freshman.

I would expect him to contribute as a TR FR much like IKM did in '17 (mostly on special teams, but earning some carries). Of course, if he's as versatile as I think, he could also get package where he potentially splits out wide.

Watching his film ... he has pretty impressive foot speed. Really allows him to have some nice acceleration - both straight-line acceleration and as it relates to change of direction too. It appears to me that he honestly offers a skill set that we don't yet have on campus. I'm very excited about his commitment!

Welcome to the Hawkeye family Tyler!

I’m glad we are getting an amazing player, but I am also so proud of our coaches for the kinds of kids they bring in. They make the University of Iowa and Iowa City a better place, and they win games.

I got goose bumps reading that letter and shared with my 10 year old son. Yes winning is important in sports, but winning in life is that much better. The university of Iowa and Iowa and Iowa City just got better, as did the Hawks.

Tear it up on the field Mr. Goodson!!! And in I.C.!!!

Welcome T. G. work hard and buy into the system. If you do these 2 things the sky is the limit. Good luck.

I like how he hits the hole after being patient enough to find it, first.

I like how he floats along and has the vision (huge skill for any RB) to find where the hole is, even if it is a cutback lane.

I like how he makes a decision on the hole, puts his foot in the ground and shoots through that hole quickly.

Because I didn’t see any jump/stop shake and bake, I will say he reminds me much more of a Freddie Russell with better receiving skills out of the backfield than he he does of Akrum.

Iowa football recruiting has always been about finding the right guys, not necessarily the best guys.

It’s great to see here lately that these “right” guys are also pretty freaking talented players. Kudos! Now let Doyle work his magic.

A peach state running back with several power 5 offers is coming to Iowa. How sweet is that? Thank you Tyler for picking the Hawkeyes. A great experience awaits you both on and off the field. I can't wait to watch tearing up the B1G in a Hawkeye uniform! Take full advantage of everything the University of Iowa has to offer. It will positively impact the rest of your life.

Some of you guys are talking about true freshman contributing right away most will get too now with that 4 game rules

a critical skill for IOWA's blocking scheme.

So, next year we have 3 Jrs @RB with lots of experience, followed by Geil (and possibly Evans?). Then you add Goodson as a true Frosh. I'm thinking Goodson is too good to redshirt. Something's gotta give.

Unfortunately, it seems something always gives when we think we have a lot of quality depth somewhere, especially at RB.
