Can anyone remember a year when 2 D1 wrestlers from the same school were ranked at the same weight? Either 2 guys fighting for a spot or maybe a backup doing well during a starters injury?

Gilman and Clark were both ranked top 5 at 125 during their RS FR year.
I believe Sorensen and Grothus were also both ranked during Sorensens RS FR year
I can't remember but what about the Ramos/Clark situation were they both ranked at one point?
Last year Chandler rogers and Crutchmer were both ranked at 174 for OSU.
Just some instances, off the top of my head.

Your worries would not be off-base.
Rankings were different in the "old days", but I wonder about McIravy and Terry Steiner and Mike Mena and Jesse Whitmer. They all shifted weights, but were projected at the same weight at one time.
Agree.......I believe in 1993 there was a time frame where both Lincoln and Troy Steiner were ranked at 142.......then Troy made the ultimate team sacrifice and made the cut to 134 so Lincoln could stay at 142. Worked out great for Lincoln as he beat Abbas in one of the greatest comebacks ever. Unfortunately I believe Troy lost a very close match to Cary Kolat in the championship round. Terry Steiner then went on to win a championship by beating Troy Sunderland with a Take Down as time ran out.
I also believe that Barry Davis and Tim Riley were both ranked at 118 lbs buy not sure what season it was. Might have been a chance that Ironside and McGuiness were ranked at the same weight for a short time frame.
Recently, Brett Pfarr was ranked for the Gophers when Steinhaus was out with an injury for the first part of that season. So when Steinhaus came back, he replaced Pfarr in the rankings pretty highly.
Penn State had Alton ranked and then James English came in was ranked and AA'd a couple of years ago. James Vollrath also would have been ranked at 57.. one of Dieringers collegiate losses but never made the lineup @ PSU
I believe Mark Ironside & Jeff McGinness were both returning national champions, and were competing for the starting spot at the same weight on the Iowa team the next season, until McGinness decided to take his redshirt.
McGinness: champ in '95, DNP in '96?, redshirt '97, champ '98
Ironside champ '97, champ '98
And if that isn't bad enough, wait a week and then look at the 141 rankings after Boo got done with the Reno bracket. Something makes me think he earned a chance to hit the scuffle too, and we will get an even better read.Show off..............
