Holy $&!% - Anchor shot and killed during live report

Piece of garbage should rot in prison in a dark room. We treat scum like this way to well.

6 am in the morning at some random video report and shots ring out. Just insane. The guy clearly marched up and started shooting. He killed the reporter and the cameraman point blank. They are speculating on long gun or hand gun. That positively sounded like a hand gun from close range.
Again, I gotta go with whack job who hated the female reporter. Just an instinctual feeling.
Could be a Cliven Bundy type I suppose.

cliven bundy? the guy who has a constitutional right and god given right to land? interesting

I think you meant ted bundy

Um, no. He's stealing from the people of the United States, and has been for years.
the united states has zero right to any land at all

the several states were set up by the founders to be separate entities without a central tyranny in dc

and what does this have to do with shooting blonde girls on tv?

I assume he was a whack job who lusted
after the reporter and probably fantasized about her when she was on TV. Maybe was denied by her or found out she had a BF and was pissed.

Who knows really as of now.

I'm tempted to pick on you for this, but it seems rude to derail a thread on this topic with our usual crazy talk. Ts and Ps for the victim's families.

this is what I thought at first, plus maybe he thought she and the camera dude had something going on, but as is par for the course , the liberals are already trying to make him out to be some right wniger, and they are probably already going to use it as an excuse to grab guns, by about 6:06 am this morning

I'll say this only in this thread. It might have been off point to use the name Cliven Bundy in such a tragic situation. But, I personally see three immediate scenarios in this shooting.
1. Some twisted love angle, where the shooter decided if he couldn't have the reporter than nobody could. I'm initially going with this as the most likely scenario.
2. An extremist who hates the media, who picked a soft target. This part of Virginia has a lot of people who feel they are aggrieved, and not listened to.
3. Terrorism. This seems unlikely.

GFY OiT. You're acting like a horrible human being. Your God would not approve of the way you think.

It's being reported this was her last day on the job. She'd taken a job at an affiliate in Charlotte.

I don't think the shooter will be at large for long. There is a clear picture of him in the footage. Even if they don't have a good witness, or security camera footage someone will ID the guy, if they haven't already.

Being reported they have a name and a license plate so all the theories should be put to rest soon.

Jesus...I wish I could unwatch that. The things people will do to one another is incredibly disturbing.

I agree it was horrible that somebody would immediately start using it for a political agenda, so I pointed that out- it was bad of that person. that person has since backed down from it a little. so I'm the bad guy for pointing it out.

According to CNN’s Brian Stelter, Ward (the cameraman) was engaged to a morning producer with whom he planned to move to Charlotte. They were planning to celebrate her last day at the station with a party this afternoon.

CNN reports she was in the control room and saw the shooting happen live.

Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe said a suspect has been identified and is believed to be a disgruntled employee of the TV station. Federal law enforcement officials are aiding in the search for the gunman.

McAuliffe also said that authorities had ruled out an act of terrorism and described the shooting as a “criminal case.” He said police have a photo of the individual and are “in pursuit as we speak.”

Marks said in an interview with CNN that the two were doing an interview about the 50th anniversary of a park near Smith Mountain Lake. He said Ward’s fiancee also worked at the TV station and was in the control room when the shooting happened.

“She saw this happen,” Marks said. “It is hard to imagine.” He said it was the fiancee’s last day at the station because she was taking a job at another station in Charlotte, N.C. Ward was expected to follow her to that area. The Roanoke Times identified Ward’s fiancee as Melissa Ott. The paper also said that Gardner was shot in the back and is said to be in surgery.

The ATF has joined the manhunt and Jeffrey A. Marks, president and general manager of WDBJ, says officers believe they know the man’s name and license plate number.

Virginia governor Terry McAuliffe tells WTOP the shooter may have been a “disgruntled” former employee at the station.

From what I heard there were two female survivors. One was shot in the back and in surgery. The other came out unharmed.

That's not correct. Ward (male cameraman) and Parker (female reporter) were killed in the shooting

The third female who was being interviewed:

CNN reports that contrary to earlier reports, the woman being interviewed—Vicki Gardner, executive director of the Smith Mountain Lake Chamber of Commerce—was also injured in the shooting. She was reportedly shot in the back and is currently in surgery.

Ah, well what I read it sounded like there was a 4th person on hand for the interview beside those 3.

Police scanner said suspect is black, bald male. Name they said was Lester Lee Flannigan

My guess would be this is not going to end well. If the guy is crazy enough to shoot 2 people on live TV the police dept may end up finishing him off because he will not just give up.

The stills looks similar

Apparently he answered his phone and said it wasn't him

Its actually the one on the left

Are you for real this morning? It's a local TV station doing a morning spot and two people get killed.

Then to me it sounds like it ends real well. The POS gets what he has coming and tax payers are saved a pile of money.
