Holy $&!% - Anchor shot and killed during live report

I agree it was horrible that somebody would immediately start using it for a political agenda, so I pointed that out- it was bad of that person. that person has since backed down from it a little. so I'm the bad guy for pointing it out.

No, I really haven't. I stated immediately that the most likely scenario was some twisted love angle/stalker. I "supposed", that it could be an anti-government type. If you weren't a caricature and chose to be a thoughtful poster you'd recognize that in America crazy people feel aggrieved and take out their frustration with bullets. Documented assaults of this type can be easily found on the internet. This was an interview with a woman who was tied in with local commerce and tourism. It's not out of the pale to think the real target was her, since she/a local government entity may have created a sense of persecution in the brain of the shooter.
You bypassed all logic and facts and jumped on what I said was supposition. You utilize this board 24/7/365 to spew your nonsense. Now you pretend you are aggrieved? Yes, quite often you are the bad guy on this board. People can't freely discuss things or offer points without you throwing your poop all over the place from behind your bars.

I'm really confused about who got shot, who was engaged to whom, who's last day it was, who was moving to Charlotte.

Reporter and cameraman shot. Reporter engaged to news anchor at station. Cameraman engaged. His fiance was at the station and watched it happen. IT was the cameraman's last day as he was moving to Charlotte.

He also posted a bunch of cat videos. Looks like he was testing posting videos for the last week or so.

This is nuts, I don't know of anything like this happening in my lifetime that I can think of as far as a live reporter and the cameraman being gunned down. Absolutely nuts.

I get what you're saying... but let's think this through a bit - would it not be "nuts" if he had simply shot both of them before they went live? It is pretty nutty that he posts the video to his Facebook though, I give you that.

Thanks, fred. Very disturbing. Looks like the cameraman dropped camera after he was hit. What happened to the lady they were interviewing? Too many crazies out there.

Crazies guns and social media. This will just keep happening, maybe on a much larger scale. 15 minutes of fame.

Just watched the shooter's video. Eerie as &@$#. He points the gun at the reporter for a few seconds without her even knowing it as she's interviewing the lady. You see the reporter glance his way for a split second, but not enough for her to notice. This while the cameraman is filming away from them, which can be seen on the actual live shot from the cameraman's video that every news outlet is showing today. Then, a few seconds after the cameraman focuses on the ladies, you see the shooter's arm come into the picture, gun in hand pointed at the reporter, and BAM. Gave me the chills.

I thought the video was down? In the news stations video you can see the blood splatter a little on the deck. Nasty.

I think evil like this has always been present, it just has the means now to show itself to society on a large scale.

so he drove within 5 miles of my house on interstate, and shot himself on I-66 somewhere in Northern VA. wow. I assume he's dead but they're not saying yet.

Man that video was crazy!!!!!! He's like standing 3 feet from here pointing the gun at here and she doesn't realize it. Looks like he shoots the reporter first and she starts to run and the camera goes dark while people are running away/shots still being fired.

My heart was racing after that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OT: I'm trying to understand what inside my brain made me have to watch that video.

Where is he that he can post videos to facebook and twitter?
Probably somewhere in the red areas.

Now they're saying the shooter still has a pulse but is in very critical condition. We have the death penalty in VA, which this man would be a prime candidate for. I would prefer they let him die, so we don't spend money saving him, and housing him, so we can kill him humanely.

I can't believe how crazy people are. I also cannot believe that he stood there with a gun and nobody notices until he starts shooting. Shoots her a few times first and as she turns to run blasts the cameraman. Just sick... what is wrong with people.

Exactly, the ambulance got stuck in traffic.

Yikes...unless the first shot was into the camera man (which I am assuming was the case) it appears that the target was clearly the lady reporter as he just unloads into her direction.

Sick eff probably had thing for her and was a "if I can't have her then no one can" sort of freekoid. Super sad and highly disturbing.

Sounds to me like he had delusions of persecution regarding his race. Possibly mentally ill, but even if mentally ill, he can still know the difference between right and wrong. I hope this does't devolve into a race debate or scapegoat all mentally ill people. This individual is responsible for his own actions. Lets leave others who are victims of racism or who suffer from mental illness out of it.
