Holy Cow did UCF get screwed by the refs

I don't get the "even up" the fouls that a lot of people look for. I said this recently on here, but it bears repeating.

If one team commits 15 fouls and gets called for 13 and the other commits 25 and is called for 22, it was a well officiated game. If one team commits 10 and is called for 15 and the other commits 20 and is called for 15, the refs sucked.
To call it "even up" is an oversimplification of what is actually going on.

I was shocked they got the call on the “hit the rim”? And was so pissed UCF went for the lob/dunk instead of easy bounce pas lay in that would have nearly iced the game.

Yep, they cost themselves the game for no reason.

No reason to throw an alley oop there. It's never really a good idea to throw one from that angle because the guy has to take his eye off either the rim or the ball in mid air.

Normal pass there wins the game.

What’s the intent? To even up the fouls. Don’t kid yourself here
The intent is not to "even up" the fouls. The intent is to make sure the spread doesn't further increase unless obvious fouls occur from the team that has the higher foul count and obvious lack of fouls dictate no fouls. It's not to even up for the sake of evening up.

That was not an offensive foul on Zion. Defender did his best to create the contact. If you watch closely he bellies up and sticks his chest out knowing he'll create contact and then flop back to try to draw the whistle.Great no-call.

I don’t disagree. I do contend that if Duke, MSU, Wisconsin, Virginia, etc. ‘belly up, stick their chest out and then flop’ that there is a very high chance that is called an offensive foul. Watched it too long to think otherwise.
