If you went to any of the games, you could see how she was. Just saying. The Wright Thompson piece highlighted what might have been a single early season practice, and the takeaway is that Clark learned how to better relate and motivate, not that she continued to ride anyone. Read it again.
There was an interview that he later gave on a podcast where he indicated that this was not an isolated incident and that it was an ongoing issue. The Wright Thompson piece highlighted what might have been a single early season practice, and the takeaway is that Clark learned how to better relate and motivate, not that she continued to ride anyone. She's still getting on herThe following seems apropos to the thread
YepHere's my conspiracy theory All this time, Clark was preparing O'Grady for a breakout season after she graduates and Iowa needs big time contribution from other players. She put constant pressure on O'Grady so that Addie built up her inner strength. Once the pressure (Clark) was removed, Addie exploded to an unprecedented new level!
Jeeeebus! Hannah’s left hand is not an asset.
Addi has the mentality defensivly and her passing ability. She needs to take about 20-30% of the times she gets the ball and make some post moves and/or a pump fake. I suspect the slower style of play, and the way they are starting to let her use her mid-range will allow her to gain confidnce, which I'm hoping results in her trusting her skillset and becoming more aggressive.O'Grady had a decent game yesterday, but she is up and down. I really like her facing the basket 10-12' shots, but she is weak in the post. I imagine that is infuriating to the staff after this many years. She's bigger/stronger than a lot of the WSU players b ut still took it up half heartedly. Ava H wil be ok, but she's not there yet.
I really like her at the 4, but Hannah is clearly still the best option at the 5 in my opinion. Unless Addy picks it up or the coaches "reinvent" what they want from the post, Jan will go w/ Hannah a lot in Big10 games.

WSU had two 6’7 players on OGrady. She rushed a few times and got blocked. However, the point you missed is having Hannah at the 4 put a smaller defender on her that she could overpower. Either Ava or Addi gave Hannah a better matchup.O'Grady had a decent game yesterday, but she is up and down. I really like her facing the basket 10-12' shots, but she is weak in the post. She will get more minutes as the season goes on but will not get more than AddyI still think ava ends up being more important/valuable this year.
Addie is far from weak in the post.O'Grady had a decent game yesterday, but she is up and down. I really like her facing the basket 10-12' shots, but she is weak in the post. I agree - When she establishes position deep in the lane she is effective. I'd question her effort on the glass and say overall she is weak there. Unless the ball falls into her hands she is not working around opponents or fighting for the ball - At all. Look at the effort Hannah, syd, fuerbach, etc put in to rebound and chase loose balls. I never see that from Ogrady. She's often the biggest girl on the court and she routinely gets boxed out and pushed around. She will get more minutes as the season goes on but will not get more than Addy

I agree with a lot of this post, I just think Addie needs to get a little bit more of a mean streak, a little more aggression and stronger hands. she seems to a times get the ball taken away from her way to easy. With a little more aggression and physicality she could be a real force to deal with. Addie still has some nice games but it could be so much more.I agree - When she establishes position deep in the lane she is effective.
