now that the weather has improved nearly every neighbor was a camp fire going in the evening
the neighborhood has turned into a big campground

Just make it a half circle and connect it to the edge of your patio as long as it's far enough away from your house. There are some cool designs out there.I've been trying to figure out the best place to put a stone fire pit in my backyard for the past five or so years. Id like to put it right off the patio as our yard isnt large and the kids still play ball games in the back. I cant figure out how to make a round pit look decent next to a square concrete patio.

Got some very nice dry elm from a buddy of mine on LeClaire. Slow burner and lots of BTUs. It’s amazing the difference quality firewood makes.
why don’t you just make the fire pit square?
Dont want those sharp right angles near where the kids play.
HawkeyeShawn’s fire pit.
Nice, what do you have to fill in the space between the stones?
We have a fire table on our deck but I would love to add a fire pit. The problem is the place I would like to put it has a huge tree with branches too low... I'll probably just get a big metal one raised on legs and use it elsewhere...pea gravel. I usually buy a bag each spring and sweep it in. Keeps it level for our chairs.
I think they might be illegal here in Urbandale...not that folks don’t have them. But, I think fire pits are the “ leaf burning” of summertime...and IF you have breathing issues, asthma, COPD or the like...there is a good reason these pits are banned.
I know..I am just another liberal troublemaker.
I can see propane burners as a much better alternative. Wood burning pits are more questionable ( smoke).a lot of cities say it must be inclosed but few people follow that.
our is propane like this
My XNiL built mine out of an old tire rim. He's still a manly man...
I think he was butchering a couple cheap hogs this weekend, then mushroom hunting, split a couple chords of wood and then run some bank lines...Whatever happened to that guy? He sounded like a walking boner maker.
I feel like I'm slipping. I can't think of what XNiL would be other than ex niece in-law but that does not make sense in your sentence. My XNiL built mine out of an old tire rim. He's still a manly man...
Close. Nephew in Law. Think of a rougher, less hygienic, less refined Larry the Cable guy...I feel like I'm slipping. I can't think of what XNiL would be other than ex niece in-law but that does not make sense in your sentence.

Trad, you are an ass.Smoke can kill folks with respiratory conditions. It has been proven to do so.,that’s why most places in civilization, you can’t burn leaves any more...or only under very restrictive conditions.Geez, stay in your home if the smoke bothers you. Good grief.

I understand the leaves as they put out all the smoke. I don't see the difference between a wood burning fireplace ( I have both ) and a fire pit, I guess. I'd prefer a neighbor with the occasional fire over the neighbor with a non stop yapping dog. Had a friend who had some hickory trees cut down. He let me haul off a ton. Shit was hell to split but burns slow and hot. We can throw 2-3 logs in the fireplace and it'll burn for hours.Got some very nice dry elm from a buddy of mine on LeClaire. Slow burner and lots of BTUs.
