By stretches, I meant a period of years, not days. Several seasons of elite basketball. It hasn't occurred in the 45 years that I have been watching Iowa BB.

In the mid to late 80’s, Iowa had successive years of elite basketball. Carry on.

I hear you but put yourself in the AD seat: you would be a national joke if it wasn't an upgrade. No risk averse spread sheet jockey is going to risk his cushy life doing something so ill-advised.

If the impetus is not coming from the very top of the administration, it ain't happening. And guess what... the top of the admin is quite happy with the status quo.

yeah, but all these folks keep saying that is impossible at Iowa and expectations are unrealistic.

The number one component you need to make a final four is talent and my contention is that it's difficult to recruit that type of talent to Iowa with our history.

Ain't no coach making the Final Four without great talent. A bad coach can certainly underachieve even with great talent.

About once in a decade a mid major like Loyola can hold and grab their way to a final 4 if the get all the bounces and make tough shots.

Carolina was player attitude this year. Yes, the coach can be held accountable for that, but the talent is huge on that roster but the egos got in the way and they played playground ball instead of the together ball they played during last years run.

I'm using my wifes debit card, lol. And 100 bucks is nothing. I haven't bet on anything for a few years and last time i was in a casino i won pretty good. The thing to do is only bet what you are comfortable losing but i don't think I'll lose. Actually both teams are very split personality teams. Auburn is as inconsistent as Iowa so honestly this is a pick em game although they seem similar to Rutgers and we won both of those.

Davis got canned for not progressing in the Ncaa's so why not. Get a coach who can recruit and makes sure he has plenty of nil money, who that would be is another discussion

Disagree. Dr. Tom got shafted by an AD that wanted to make hire to pad his legacy at IOWA. That backfired big time and he bolted before the 💩 hit the fan. People pissin and moaning about Tom Davis couldn’t have foreseen the drought on the horizon, but were giddy when TD was kicked to the curb so SA could step in and initiate the current level of success of first weekend flops in the NCAA’s.

Hope this team can get their heads back into it. Just not sure the energy level needed is still there.
