How does a team continually get blown out on the road?

Next year will be different. Things will change next year. Big time recruits coming in. Next year will be the year. Next year….next year…..
So tired of having to apply my Cubs fandom mantra to everything else in my life when it comes to the teams I follow.

IMO McCaffery has lost some of the players and they are just playing out the season. Just my take from afar. I also do not think the team chemistry is very good and there may be two camps. But like I said just my take from afar and no facts either way except the s***** BBall they are playing.
I agree, this seems different than the usual Fran stuff.

This team is less than the sum of its talent. I feel like just about any other coach could have this team middle of the pack.

Way way too many bad shots from Payton when he is probably the 4th or 5th best offensive player on the team at best.

When you're team identity isn't based in reality it fcks up the chemistry.

Considering what we've seen from them in road games, starting with the game in Madison, this team just totally checks out mentally and quite a bit physically once the opposition 'wakes up' and starts putting together its first big run.

Even the home games - aside from Indiana - have been very lackluster, at least for stretches.

I love Fran but listened to Hawk Talk tonight and half the program when fran

was about bobby hansen's time with the utah jazz

They also laughed about Payton on a heater than takes a 35 footer and all the questions that came in had nothing to do with the state of the season currently

To me it just defies everything we know about sports. There will be blowout road losses, but every single time? I could live with a 2-8 conference road record and three or four 10 points or less losses.
Well, winning on the road is never easy and this is the weakest team we have had in years.

Along with everything mentioned in this thread, highlighted is how I feel. Individually there are probably some good players, but as a whole they are basically just a bad team. I think that sums it up for me.

This isn’t new. Fran’s philosophy is to win on the road we have to shoot well. When we don’t we get our asses kicked. I don’t know why anyone would expect the magic formula to change. We aren’t all of the sudden going to start playing defense and hitting the glass. Not happening.

Getting KIlled this bad on the Boards is a little bit on new side. Garza, Weezy, Murray Brothers were plus Rebounders.

Who do we have in the starting lineup that is a plus rebounder---i.e. expected to get more rebounds then the guy they are guarding? In Fran's starting lineup, I would say all 5 in the starting lineup are minus rebounders.

I think he does believe it, there's nothing drastically different about the home/road defense or rebounding. They're equally bad no matter where they play. At home they usually manage to not set up new brick foundations for the neighborhood.
I think if you look at the shooting %’s on the road they are far worse than in carver.

There is very little Big Ten talent on this team I don’t understand why people can’t see this. The athleticism is at an all time low.

In a sense, it isn't that much different from Johnny Orr at Iowa State. The could beat anyone in Hilton and turnaround and lose all their road games. High powered offense, especially when dependent on long range shooting, and fast break scoring don't travel as well as defense and rebounding. Home crowds can certainly pump up a team emotionally and put them over the top at times, but it seems Fran is starting to lose the ability to fill Carver.
