That should tell you all you need to know about the level of ineptitude this program has aspired to. Are you OK with that? I can probably get you a nice participation trophy. Something that says "50 year Big Ten also ran".

Of course, a participation trophy would be nice ... if I was actually participating. I just watch the games and cheer.
Or, I could just be pissed off that the basketball team doesn't win more. Would that help?

Anyone see Jay Wright go a little crazy last night? He thought the refs missed a call. He was wrong, but he still got a bit made and his coaching staff and a couple of players had to hold him back. It happens.
Iowa recruited at a pretty damn high level under the four coaches before Lick. Dr Tom was landing top 50 studs right up to the end. Perception has not recovered in the eyes of top Midwest players.
It's so hard that 8 different BIG teams have done it in the last 25 years alone. I guess your version of dam hard and my version of dam hard is very different.
The recruiting pipelines that we used to have. Iowa was able to recruit on a national level and then LICK came and destroyed that. We couldn't even land a top PG in our backyard thanks to Lick.
Using ESPN ratings, uniformly, Hawks start 3 ESPN 4*s, Cook a high four star, and both Moss and Bohannon low 4 stars. All three were in ESPN's top 120 nationally (you have to count by position to get the four stars between 100 and the 120ish cut off). Cook is from St. Louis and Moss is from Chicago. Good regional recruits and excellent gets for Iowa in any era.
We all know the Jok story. He was a high ESPN three star after dramatic injuries took him out of the high four star range. Similar story with Pemsyl, although he wasn't nearly as high pre injury as was Jok. That is a fairly well pedigreed starting five for Iowa in almost any era.
