How the Hawkeyes will beat the Clones on Thurs.

Why don't we focus on the positives of both teams of young men that are representing their teams well. I wonder what prospective recruits who might be reading these boards think of the hate spewed by their prospective Hawkeye fans. To be honest I don't have a problem cheering for Iowa when they aren't playing Iowa State but it's pretty difficult to do when Hawkeye fans spend all their time hating. I wonder what the rest of their life is like. I think we all know what all the former wins and losses are and where a team's weaknesses are. What is amazing to me is most of you Hawkeye fans only want to talk about records no doubt before most of your were born. Another thing is stating your superiority for winning your first game in the NCAA tournament under Fren's reign and the fact that ISU has been ranked continuously for the last two years if not a little longer whereas Iowa was ranked two weeks or less during that time. I understand you should fully support your team but it doesn't have to be by shredding Iowa State into bits. I read here because this web site is easier to navigate and think we could have a healthy banter between both schools fans but you don't have to stoop so low as to disparage every thing about the other school.

I hate to think how superior the Iowa fans will think their team is should they win tonight yet still won't give ISU any credit if they win.

Yes what would any rational person think of isu when they read the hate spewed on cyclone fanatic?

Let me know when you get that cleaned up.

over the past decade isu b-ball has been superior. Of that there is no question.
Fran's steady improvement of the program from the debacle of the lick years has been excellent.

Fred was great for isu. It will be interesting to see what their new coach can do. He's certainly one of the most fortunate first year coaches in the country with the team he inherited.

As for tonight, the advantage is all to isu.
Hawks can win, but it will take a very good game from them AND a well below average performance from isu to get that done.

As for posting on this board, if you come here with interesting and polite comments you should be welcomed.
If it's to spew ignorant nonsense then please leave.

Name one other AD who acts more like a douche than Pollard.

Unless you are following the actions of 100+ AD's throughout the country through twitter or viewing their press conferences, interactions with booster etc, , not sure you or I, or anyone else can reasonably answer that question.

Your comments were everyone that cheers for ISU were in lock step with Pollard, I pointed out that many while realize he has done a lot of good things for ISU, there are other things that many ISU fans have called him out on.

Minnesota employed an AD that was abusive to employee's and had "accounting issues." They finally fired him, but a guy like that much worse than Pollard

You probably will disagree with this, but message boards tend to have the most fanatical fans of the team in question. If you go to any message board where there are 2 or more P5 schools in the state, a lot of bad things are going to be said back and forth. Throw in a free board, and it gets 10 times worse.

Earlier this year there was some dumb ass that posted something about an Iowa player on CF, something about long term injury and being glad or something stupid like that. He was destroyed by the other posters.

So attacking a season ticket holder/donor on Twitter is ok? I guess at isu it is Pollard is still employed.

Again he got called out on that, but if you don't know the difference between calling out a fan on twitter, and abusing employee's under your employment, you really don't have a clue

I understand completely.

Pollard acts like a douche because that is the culture at isu. It isn't just him. It is the way isu players flip off the crowd at away games. It is the way donors go after Bill Self. It is the students hurling racial slurs at Iowa Cheerleaders. Isu fans posting on cyclone fanatic that they would cheer for ISIS before cheering for the Hawks. I can give numerous others if needed.

I find it to be very entertaining that isu fan simply wants to dismiss these and other incidents as isolated and not in any way indicative of how isu really is.

Of course if isu didn't have the culture I am describing I wouldn't have so many examples that say otherwise.

How many things does Pollard need to be called out for before isu says this is not how we expect someone in your position to act?

Sure looks to me that Pollard can act like a douche all he wants because the isu culture allows and rewards it.

They haven't played anybody. Hoiberg's teams were built to outscore opponents (which they often did) but was never a good defensive team. Prom had a much worse defensive rating last year with Murray State despite playing against lesser opponents. I rest my case.

I don't care what they did under Hoiberg or what Prohm did last year at Murrary State. I am talking about this year's team and so far their defense is greatly improved and the proof is in the defensive efficiency stats. And for not having "played anybody" they are 6th in real time RPI rankings and 7th in the standard RPI rankings. They have two top 50 RPI wins and Iowa has no top 50 RPI wins. Iowa's schedule has been slightly stronger but not by much. I rest my case.

  • So pointing out how isu, it's fans, Donors, racist students and AD act makes me deranged?

Then do tell us what those that actually have committed the behavior are.

    This will be good.

You are deranged because you say the same thing over and over and over and over and over and somehow don't know how to have a rational conversation with anyone. I don't I have ever actually say something of substance and can't for the life of me figure out why you even post if that is all you do? It is just plain weird and like I said kind of deranged.

Valparaiso, Davidson, and Dayton make up 3 of the top 5 teams according to RPI. RPI means nothing at this point. ISU is a bad defensive team.

Oh now I get it, because Pollard continually invents new ways to act like a douche all is to be forgiven. But god forbid anyone point it out that is out of bounds.

I think having McKay in the middle takes them out of that bad category, and puts them into a pedestrian level. :)

Right now still think ISU is adjusting to the new coach, despite what everyone says publically .

The main thing I want to see is Hawkeye swagger and aggressiveness and attitude that at least match that of Niang and his clone clan. That was a total embarrassment in Iowa City last year...I'll never forget Niang's childish behavior. Only Donald Trump could match that BS.

Iowa players have said the usual player-speak all week, but if they don't come out with their hair on fire from the opening tip, well, they should be ashamed of themselves.

Western Illinois won @ Wisconsin. UW-Milwaukee won @ Wisconsin last night. Hell, UCLA lost to Monmouth and then beat Kentucky!

So can Iowa beat ISU? Of course, but not by playing like wimps. I hope the Hawkeyes are wearin' their big boy pants tonight and are in the face of the Clones for 40 minutes. Set Niang on his ass a time or two early and block out on the boards like beasts. Do that, and whatever the scoreboard shows is fine with me.

As good as McKay is at altering shots he tries to block everything leading to a lot of easy put backs off of the backside, similar to when Olaseni played. I think ISU probably wins the game, but the fact that Vegas only had them as 5 point favorites at home means they don't think ISU is necessarily any better, and if the line wasn't made to entice people to bet Iowa might be picked to win straight up. There is nothing enticing about giving the #2 ranked team at home +5 to an unranked team.

ISU seems to play to the level of its competition, Iowa is very good competition.

Line has jumped to 8...Would think it will drop back down to 7 or so by tipoff.
A 3 point shift is really a big move.

You must be talking about a Wayne Morgan that did not coach at ISU, as the one that coached there (and sold me my satellite TV package) had one NCAA tourney win, while Fran has 3.

Oh, I meant at their respective schools Iowa State and Iowa. I don't particularly care about what Wayne did before Iowa State and the same goes for Fran at Iowa.
