My favorite, and to many, your least favorite forum, started this topic:

The Cael Award:

I "smart-assedly" asked if this would be part of the criteria:

Should it include getting your former Head Coach fired so you can take his job, but then leaving a few years later to go to another school because it is in the mecca for High School wrestling?

Hard to believe you could be a bigger douche. Where is that Block button?
NM - found it.

I do not believe it was Cael who got Douglas relieved of the head coaching job, but I do understand that Pollard was trying to keep him there. The only questionable thing which I feel Cael has done, is to bring Andrew Long in when he did. I believe that won him his first championship.

Why even read it, if you don't like it? I found it funny. If you don't, to each their own.

You know, I hate to tell you, but if a Penn State poster made this exact sort of inflammatory post on BWI I am absolutely certain at least one person from HR would cite it as indication of how terrible a fan-base Penn State's is. This behavior is far from endearing, not just to Penn State fans, but to all followers of wrestling.

At least MSU isn't an Iowa fan, so PSU fans couldn't use this as an example as an indication of our fans.

I get pounded on NO MATTER what I say regarding PSU. I mean literally. If I picked someone to take 2nd, I get blasted because I didn't pick them to take 1st. I picked Retherford to take 4th BEFORE THE SEASON started and I was labeled as making a fool of myself for doing so. I picked Conaway to lose in the R12. Mind you he won that R12 match by 1 sec of riding time. I got blasted.

I am sorry, but I don't think Cael is the knight in shining armor that many want to portray him to be. I pointed out a situation that pissed off a ton of people at ISU. I wasn't trying to be nice. I also wasn't trying to get a nice response. It is what it is.

So if they make a Brands award thread where they make bashing statements about Tom will you find that funny too? They are the team to beat right now, the best way to pi$$ off their fans would be to have our guys win it next year and knock them off the top.

yea msu going on their board and slamming their coach is too psu like.. I don't like it when their mutts come over here, this will cause more drive byes.

MSU, why do you lower yourself by posting on themat in the first place? Stay over here and let shit sharpen shit over there.

The best part of this is wasdt21's post. It made me look at BWI and see just how many times I am mentioned and blasted when I have NEVER posted on there. Thanks!

It used to be a great, neutral site to post. You could have a somewhat level headed debate without "fanatics" twisting everything you say. You could get reliable information about most programs. Now a majority of it is a PSU lovefest and an attempted blasting of anyone that doesn't paint them in a perfect God-like light. When I first started posting, I wasn't anti-PSU in any way. In fact, I still cheer for certain PSU wrestlers. But, the "fanatics" over there have become so ridiculous that THIS post happened.....

I keep telling you guys that if you want a good discussion on wrestling without all the flaming, etc., you have to go to OnTheMat at Scout.com. I hate to say it, but BWI and some of the other sites have become dumpster fires. I am talking about it in connection with Penn State wrestling. If you were to visit the site today, you would find that most posters are congratulating the new Hodge award recipient.

Yes. Most of them send congrats to Ringer but most of them did say Zain should have won it and that the voters own him one next year. So really why say that in the same post. To me its like saying you beat me but I should have won.

MSU ...they say water will seeks its own level...and I think message board trolls are the same way. That being said you will never replace Jamz as the #1 P4P on the wrestling interweb. But you are getting closer and you have the whole off season to train.

I wish you luck in your endeavors!

No, that's not how it reads. First and foremost, the congrats are to Ringer. Secondly, some question why they don't just say what it really is, a lifetime achievement award. Third, some say Zain was a better choice. Heaven forbid a PSU board would say such a thing. For a partisan board, the comments were very mild. Would you agree with that?

I'm not sure about that. Jammenz loses style points for his loyalty to the Goofers.

MSU is a Michigan State guy. Except when he's rooting for Iowa. Or Oklahoma State. Or Ohio State. Or Virginia Tech. Or the University of Phoenix. That's exceptionally trolly and helps carry him to near the top of the P4P rankings, IMHO.

Sorry I got confused . I posted what was said on BWI.

Thanks for the Earth Science lesson and well wishes. You are a kind and genuine individual!

I remember many, many on THIS board saying, even if Ringer won 165 again, that Gilman should win the Hodge because of who he would have faced and because he pinned the previous year's champ. Of course that was before Nico beat him.

So I guess Iowa fans are just the same as PSU fans in supporting their wrestlers, huh???

Maybe it used to be. But it no longer is, and everyone with half a brain knows it, so why keep going there and starting inflammatory topics? Do you think you're improving the atmosphere one iota? It's like setting off a blowtorch in the living room and then yelling because the house burned down.

Chuckles...even if Gilman beats Nico, most would have understood that Ringer is a three time champ. I posted cases for each guy to include non-Iowa guys. If Gwiz had beat Snyder, he would have won it. What's funny is that you guys spent a whole season putting Sorensen down for his lack of offense etc then are pissed because he was the next best guy in Zain's weight class but still expect Zain to win it.

I think Cael is sleeping well at night with his team's 5th championship in 6 years. Your best bet is what other posters have said earlier. Beat us next year. The better question is what would piss Penn State fans worse. Getting beat by Iowa or tOSU?

We know he is sleeping well but just think he could have won 6 in a row if not for red shirting Nico and Zain and maybe if Zain had wrestled last year had a great year he maybe could have won the hodge..just saying

I think it was a good decision to redshirt Zain. He was already a beast on top as a freshman but with the extra year of coaching and freestyle... You see the results.

Ringer deserved the Hodge. Zain will get his next year.

Though without Andrew Long being brought in with no preconditions, Cael likely wouldn't have one one of those titles.

But then I doubt that Cael lost any sleep over that decision.
