How to piss PSU fans off big time!

You crack me up. I was simply trying to point out that I was trying to let this die. If you want it to keep going on forever, it won't hurt me any. I am the culprit that created this mess. That is undeniable. If you want to be part of what keeps it going. That is on you.

P.S., I actually enjoy your digs. This one, especially, brought a smile to my face. Thank you for the early morning pick me up!

The awkward moment when your sarcasm is so advanced that people actually think you are stupid.

Chuckles...even if Gilman beats Nico, most would have understood that Ringer is a three time champ. I posted cases for each guy to include non-Iowa guys. If Gwiz had beat Snyder, he would have won it. What's funny is that you guys spent a whole season putting Sorensen down for his lack of offense etc then are pissed because he was the next best guy in Zain's weight class but still expect Zain to win it.

AZchief, is the hodge a lifetime achievement award??? I don't know, we call it the heisman of college wrestling. If it is a lifetime achievement award so be it. Last I checked, it wasn't so stop making the three time argument. I get that ringer was/is great and he is. But putting dominance side by side with Zain, I think Zain was more dominant. I don't know. Funny because I remember seeing half this board saying "I'll take my guy" before Zain ever wrestled Sorenson.

Well, ONE of the seven criteria for the hodge is past accomplishments. So its not a career award, but it is taken into account for 14.3% of the criteria. Its not like there was a big disparity between the dominance of Retherford and Dieringer, it was a few more bonus pt victories by Zain. PSU fans all year talk about how 'weak' of a #2 Sorensen is because of his limited offense at times, yet expect Retherford hodge for beating him and walking through 149. You can't have it both ways. And yeah, I will still stand by my guy, like i'm sure most Iowa fans will, he'll probably end up being a 3x Finalist which isn't chump change.

There already is a most dominant award which Zain won, so why would Zain win two awards just because he was most dominant. There is more criteria for the Hodge and the voters thoughts Alex had intangibles on his side. Zain's day will come, but Alex is a deserving winner.

The Most Dominant Award is math-based...nothing subjective about it. While the right guy normally (always is debatable) wins the Hodge, it's based on votes and if you look at history there have been some regional, or other, bias. In 2004, for example, DT won, and on 44 of 45 ballots he was listed 1st or 2nd, but one person had him 4th. The same year, Logan Stieber, while coming in 2nd, was left off a ballot. It does appear there's a small bit of voter bias.

What's wrong with taking your guy, especially since they have never wrestled? I know the Hodge has specific criteria but I, and I think the non fan voters, look at a guy's career history...I also think the level of competition plays a HUGE part. For example, had Nolf run the table on IMar, I would had a no problem casting a vote for him. BTW, folks thought I was off my rocker when I said Nolf would beat IMar at least once. Still, check it out:

Zain:Dominant and undefeated for one year
Ringer: Dominant and undefeated for three years

Pretty clear cut to me.

Shame on you AzChief. Ringer was only undefeated for 2 years as one of your Hawkeyes beat him for the 3rd time Ringer's soph. year.

As I understand it Deiringer had four career loses - three of them to DSJ. Trivia question: what other OSU wresting great had the same career result?

I know Fried was really close due to Mr. Brands. Although he unfortunately lost a postseason due to OkState getting a postseason suspension. 129-6 finishing 2nd, 2nd, ineligible and 1st with all his losses coming in his 1st 2 seasons. He was a good one!

Yes. I had Fried in mind. He lost one college match to someone other than Tom.

This is not true, for multiple reasons:
1. The 7 criteria are not weighted equally or consistently.
2. A number of years ago, WIN said the "lifetime achievement" criterion was intended as a tie-breaker after the first 3. But ...
3. Voters being human, unless given specific weighting rules, they will give the award to a senior if a viable one exists -- Ringer clearly was viable, and so was Gwiz until Saturday night.

There are countless historical examples of voters giving similar awards based upon distorting the voting criteria, or even ignoring the criteria altogether. (For example: Mo Vaughn winning AL MVP over Albert Belle because Belle was surly to the press.) Not saying Ringer was undeserving. Only saying it's naive to ignore the human factor in voting.

This is far from a given, even if Zain never loses again and continues his dominance. Forget 2017, Cox and Dean will likely both be SR 3x champs and undefeated on the year. In 2018, Zain shares his SR year with Martinez and Snyder (and also Tomasello and Heil, though Zain probably finishes ahead of them today).

I've been thinking of how to piss off Cornell fans myself. My plan is to be a former wrestler, for North Carolina State, but to completely avoid the NC State board, and instead, head over to the Cornell board, and make a series of thinly veiled critical remarks on everything Cornell, and then to spend the rest of the post, claiming that I have no such interest, and make basic wrestling threads, even though there aren't any of me.

I call it the "MSU158"
