How well will the B10 fare @ the Dance?

Here’s the problem—while some might say the committee did the B1G a favor by placing 9 teams, only 3 are seeded to make the Sweet Sixteen, none are seeded to make the Elite Eight, and I’ll bet dollars to donuts that Wiscy makes an early exit. Contrast that with the SEC, where 4 of the 6 teams are seeded to make the Sweet Sixteen. So if B1G doesn’t play above seed, we’re gonna have a sh*tty record and everyone’s gonna bitch about the 9 bids without taking into consideration where 5 of the 9 were placed.

I guess that means the Hawks are just gonna have to go and win the whole damned thing…

Of the Power 5 conferences (plus Big East), the Big Ten has been the weakest at the top for some time. The middle and bottom are the best of any conference, but the best teams just aren’t strong enough to cut down the nets in April. I don’t think the B1G gets the same quality of recruits and the grind of the regular season leaves too little in the tank for the top teams.

I think Iowa and Purdue are by far the class of conference here. In the tournament, a team is going to have to score and defend in multiple ways with multiple players. You have to have a versatile roster to match up properly with the variety of styles they are faced. Why Iowa is the best team right now is because they have the best chemistry. Purdue hasn't figured out their identity yet in my opinion, and that will be their downfall. I don't see anyone in this tournament that can line up 5 guys and just be better than everyone else like a 1990 UNLV, so it is going to take depth.

All the other B1G teams are too flawed and can only win one way for them to make it through multiple match ups.
