How's Keegan Doing?

Suns @ Sac @ 9:30 PM on NBA TV. Redemption? Repeat? We'll see. ;) Say hi to KD, Booker, Beal, and the 3 pt specialist Eric Gordon.

#7 (and current play in team) Phoenix is one game behind #6 New Orleans. If the Suns somehow tie the Pelicans in the final standings, Phoenix won the season series over New Orleans 2-1.

Remaining schedules:

#7 Suns at #8 Kings
#7 Suns at #2 Minnesota

#6 Pelicans at #9 Warriors
#6 Pelicans vs #10 LA Lakers

Without looking at the box score, I'll bet Mike played almost the entire bench. He's done that several times this season. That tells you, that at times he's "searching" for the right combination. He's done that when other teams have solidified their rotations. I'm not including any injuries. I suspect that some big moves may be coming in the off-season. At least, I hope so. With the current roster, I just don't see how he can meet the team goals he set, especially on the defensive side of the ball. The defense has improved, but they still can't get enough stops.

Minnesota beat Atlanta

OKC beat Milwaukee

San Antonio beat Denver by 1 point (huge upset, to say the least)

With one more game to go, here's the Top 3 seeds in the West:

1. Minnesota............56-25
2. Oklahoma City....56-25
3. Denver..................56-25

Kings outscored 12-4 down the stretch to lose by one. Choking like dogs.
Last possession is typical Kings.
Down one with 8 seconds...fox dribbles into a triple team and gets stripped. Hero ball at its worst.
I'm not sure they need an overhaul, but if the Kings don't make some big moves in the offseason, or over the next couple offseasons, then I hope Keegan gets out and to a better organization. Miami or Boston are a couple of teams that I think he would shine with.

The Kings need to take a hard look at how they went from the #3 seed in the Western Conference last year to the #9 seed this year. If the playoffs started today, JUST TO GET INTO THE PLAYOFFS, they'd have to beat #10 seed Golden State at home and then they'd have to beat the loser of #7 Phoenix/#8 LA Lakers (road game).

Look at all the games they've blown this season.

McNair did little to nothing in both the offseason and Trade Deadline, and it provided no hedge after Huerter and Monk got injured. Sasha Vezenkov went down prior to the Monk and Huerter injuries, but he's only provided flashes of what he could be in the future. The Kings can use at least one piece in the starting rotation and one bench piece IMO, and that's if Monk decides to stay in Sacramento this offseason, as he's on an expiring contract.

Just watched Matt's podcast, and he provided footage from the last play where Fox was hacked by Beal. Hard to see the contact because Booker was in the way, so make your guesses. Blowing big leads was the most frustrating thing for me this year. The Kings had a 16 pt lead in the 3rd, and gave it up once again. Fox and Mike Brown may have an argument about the foul at the end, but that's not why they lost.

By the way, the Wolves' TV crew got this wrong last night. They put up a graphic stating that since the Wolves have the best Western conference record (37-14), that they were the current the #1 seed; they showed OKC (35-16) at #2 and Denver (32-19) at #3.

Well, apparently the 3-way tie breaker is your record vs the other 2 teams, which makes the current top 3 seeds this:

1. Oklahoma City.....56-25
2. Minnesota............56-25
3. Denver...................56-25

So, that's at least 14 blown double-digit leads this season. If they just win half of those 14, they'd be at 52-29 and the #4 seed

One bad thing about the play in tournament: the #8 seed in both the Eastern Conference (will face #1 seed Boston) & the Western Conference (will face #1 seed OK City) won't be determined until Friday.

Western Conference Play in Tournament:

#7 seed (49-33) New Orleans
#8 seed (47-35) LA Lakers
#9 seed (46-36) Sacramento
#10 seed (46-36) Golden State

  • TUES, 6:30 CT, TNT: #8 LA Lakers at #7 Pelicans (winner gets 7 seed)
  • TUES, 9:00 CT, TNT: #10 Warriors at #9 Kings (loser enters Draft Lottery)
  • FRI, TBD, TNT: Winner 9/10 vs loser 7/8 (winner gets 8 seed) (loser enters Draft Lottery)

They may have some older guys but TJD and Podziemski kave stepprd up. And you have the usual suspects like Green, Kuminga, Paul, Looney, Wiggins, Curry, and Thompson. I'm afraid Sac's season ends tonight.
