How's Keegan Doing?

so what will his next contract look like? $30M+ per year? more?

I don't know the Kings full cap situation but they just signed Sabonis to a new contract and Fox will be looking for an extension in the next year or two. So I'd be (pleasantly) surprised if Keegan gets $30+ million a year. I'm guessing it will be somewhere in the $20+ million/year range.

I would think they'll try and get ahead of that and sign him to something in the $22-$25M range if possible.

I'm sure his agent will advise against that and for him to bet on himself, wait until the rookie contract is up and see what the market is willing to spend for him. Got to believe it would be in that $30M range by then.

Give Brown the extension ASAP. The front office needs to get busy to retain Monk if possible, and get an upgrade at the wing position. Injuries and blown leads contributed to the Kings failing to get a top 6 seed. The Kings need a bench to help the starters. Monk was a big-time contributor off the bench, but after that, it was anyone's guess as Brown was forced to "Search" for reliable play.

This plus the Fox (expected) extension may limit how much the Kings can offer Keegan when his rookie deal is up.
I personally, am glad he'll be back. Losing him would have been a big blow to the organization. Until the time he was injured last season, he was clutch for the Kings, especially late in games. Some can nit pick about some of his weaknesses, but then, the team as a whole, fell short of expectations as well.
Keegan should be fine as long as he continues to improve.

With the Draft coming up on Wednesday, there's much speculation on what the Kings are going to do with the 13th pick. Will they shop it or use it? Alex Caruso, whom the Kings have shown interest in, was picked up by OKC.
The next two players under consideration are Zach Levine and Kyle Kuzma. With Monk back who may become a starter along side Fox, Sabonis, and Keegan, who would be a good pick up for Sac? I've heard Brandon Ingram's name kicked around, but that doesn't seem likely to me. Not sure he's interested in Sacramento.
My move would be, as an armchair GM (and not a good one at that), would be to go after Kuzma since he's on a good contract, and could fill the wing position at 6'9".
Any Draft junkies out there? What do you think?

plenty of mock drafts out there. But you're talking about free agents?

13. Sacramento Kings: Jared McCain, Duke

Team needs: Scoring guard, wing depth
Best case: Devin Carter
Other fits: Rob Dillingham, Carlton Carrington, Isaiah Collier

Sac is still in a "Win Now" situation. By retaining Monk, they have a good core 4 if he starts. If that plays out, then Sac could add length at the wing that they sorely need. They need players that can contribute right away, and not "Project" guys.
If however, they choose to pick at #13 (and I hope they don't), they'll likely choose a player like a Zach Edey (if he's available) some size off of the bench to help rest Sabonis. He'll need development, but with his size he could help as a presence around the basket. He could block shots, although Mike Brown doesn't look for those because they don't always guarantee possessions.
If they add a guard, then get a good 3pt guy who has some size to shoot over defenders, and be able to play defense according to Brown's principles.

Draft is Tomorrow night @ 7pm Central on ESPN.

The Kings selected Devin Carter, a guard from Providence at #13. They hold pick #45 and will select tomorrow.

Height: 6’2.25

Weight: 193 pounds

Wingspan: 6’8.75

Standing Reach: 8’2

Max Vertical Leap: 42 inches (tied for top mark)

He averaged just under 20 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.8 steals, and a block last season. Shot 56% on 2's and 38% from 3. He was considered one of the best wing defenders in the nation. The big takeaways are his wingspan and also his jumping ability, and defense.
The Kings add him to their roster of 8 guards. Yes, 8. I felt the need for a wing player as well as many others who follow the team. Can deal(s) still be made? Absolutely. Let's see what happens next.

Day 2 of Draft. Sac trades Davion Mitchell and Sasha Vezenkov + the 45th pick in today's Draft to Toronto for Jalen McDaniels PF.

What's Jalen's story? I see he only played in 50 games last season, and averaged 10.8 min, 3.4 pts and 1.6 rebounds. He shot 16.9% from three and 34.4% overall. Yikes.

More from ESPN: McDaniels...entered the league as a 2nd-round pick of the Charlotte Hornets in 2019....His best season came in 2022-23, when he averaged 10.6 points in 56 games with the Hornets before he was dealt to the Philadelphia 76ers at the trade deadline.

You actually covered a lot more than I know about him. I basically have little info on the Raptors. What I do know about him is that he's on a 4 mil expiring contract, his brother is Jaden, who plays for Minny, he had a crappy year last year at Toronto, is in his 6th season as a player, and that he adds the length that Monte' McNair is looking for at the Wing. If he checks Mike Brown's box for defense, then he could stay and get valuable minutes. But Vivek is a quick-trigger owner who may have a lot to say behind the scenes (who knows?). Still plenty of time to sculpt the roster, and IMO, no one is safe from being traded, with the exception of Sabonis and Fox.

Free Agency begins tomorrow @ 5 PM Central. By sending Davion Mitchell and Sasha Vezenkov to the Raptors, they have freed up around 13 mil. Will Monte' take a swing? Let's find out. Still have Huerter and Barnes they can offer.

You think Keegan is considered part of the core or could he get moved?

I don’t think the Kings have anyone that is truly untouchable from a wiling to listen to offers perspective. Nobody on the team is that great of a player. They may have untradeable contracts though.

I think Keegan with his rookie contract could be attractive to many teams, but it depends upon what they’re willing to offer.

Most agree, and when I say that, I mean the local media that follows the Kings, agree that Keegan is part of the "Core". There are a couple reporters that are not committed to that yet. Kyle Madson for example believes that he needs to see more from Keegan. I believe that he is a part of the "Core", and he'll continue to refine his game. Monte' McNair has demonstrated that he's not afraid to make a big move, as the Sabonis/Haliburton trade came to be. I've heard that the owner, Vivek Ranadive is all business and quite possibly has some say in what moves can be made. Many owners step back and give the GM room to operate, but in this case the leash is short(er).
Keegan is a "Gym Rat, just as Davion Mitchell was with his time in Sacramento. On the other hand, with the new contract Monk received recently, it showed that he and Sac have mutual respect and a willingness to go forward. In Keegan's case, I'm in the camp that no one is safe from being traded. Let's see How Free Agency works out.
