How's Keegan Doing?

Kings 2024-25 Season Preview: Keegan Murray

Entering his rookie and sophomore seasons, Keegan Murray was the talk of the town during training camp. Season one was filled with excitement over his debut and possible immediate impact, and season two raised questions of whether he would take a ‘leap.’

This feels like the least attention Keegan has had coming into a season. He doesn’t have to take a massive step forward for the Kings to be successful. Under the tutelage of DeMar and company, Keegan can continue to grow his game at a steady pace without the pressure of quick ascension.

The 24-year-old wing has taken the offseason to build muscle as he prepares to guard the league’s best wings and forwards on a nightly basis.

how good are the Kings projected to be?
I believe they are expected to finish in the top 6. They are also expected to win 47 or so games. I would take the over on that. With DeRozan in the starting lineup, the floor spacing should be better as well. Mike Brown has emphasized that offensive rebounding will be better, and could lead to more scoring. The Kings got better, but so did the West. Domas said that DeMar makes his game easier in DHO's.

yeah, I am just afraid they won't make it out of the 1st round....the West is so tough....

As a Bulls fan I have watched DD play a lot. I like him and do think he will help the Kings if used properly.

But he is not a floor spacer. He operates strictly 18 feet and in.

He is a great closer late in games, late in shot clock.
4th qtr is his sweet spot.
Not sure how he will mesh with fox as fox is alpha late

With DD operating in the mid-range it will create opportunities for others just based on collapsing defenses. I believe that Mike will use him very well.

After missing the playoffs last year, they had better not just make the playoffs, but win a series. Otherwise I'm afraid that Vivek will have heads rolling. I know that Huerter and Monk were out injured at the end, but there should be enough fire power to be successful, should another situation like that occur.

At the half, Kings up 68-66. Runnin' and gunnin'. 3+ min left in 2nd, and Keegan absolutely locked Curry down on a play where Curry did everything he could to go around Keegan. No, no said Keegan.

I had heard that he was a knockdown shooter, but didn't know that he is a career 41% shooter from 3. At 6'6 he doesn't give the Kings the size they need, and he's not a great defender (so I've heard), but his shooting should make up for that at the 2 or 3. Deuce Mason says he is good at the DHO game, as he and Sabonis spent time together with the Pacers. I'm hoping Monte' will get a good sized wing to help Keegan soon. There is still 1 roster spot open.

I hope the Kings can make some noise in the playoffs with these additions.

Doug McDermott turns 33 on Jan 3.

DeMar DeRozan turned 35 on Aug 7.

The Kings have 21 on their roster at the moment; they have to get down to 18 (15 roster players + 3 two-way players).

In spite of it being preseason and winless in 4 games, they should be ok once Huerter and Lyles return. That doesn't mean they'll be barn burners, since they still have things to work on, especially perimeter defense (or lack thereof). I like what I've seen from Jordan McLaughlin.

Kings signed Drew Timme and Shareef O'Neil to play in the G League. Could be a good opportunity for O'Neil to get a 2 way (or 10 day) contract per SI. Kings need size and Alex Len is the back up to Sabonis right now. Let's see what happens.

It's strange. If you look up 2 way contracts, it says that only 2 are permitted per team.

Google and I are behind, lol.

First introduced in 2017, two-way deals have undergone some rule changes in recent years, and the NBA’s new Collective Bargaining Agreement has updated them further. Here are some key points to remember:

  • Teams can now carry three players on two-way contracts, rather than two.

Kings open the season tonight, hosting the Timberwolves @ 9 PM on League Pass and NBC Sports Cali. Fox needs a big year to be eligible for a supermax deal. Keegan's defense shined last year, and now he needs to raise his scoring and rebounding, and be consistent. DeRozan is here to help, especially when they need a bucket, and in late game situations. Both Huerter and Lyles are back from injury, with Kevin starting at the 2 guard position. Monk will be going for 6th man again. Don't look for the defense to be good, but look for a lot of scoring and especially 3 pointers. Going to be up and down again this year. Great to have Trey back.
