I’ll say it

10:28 1st Half Connor gets the ball at the top of the key with 12 secs on the shot clock and decides to shoot a contested three two feet behind the arc with 11 seconds left on the shot clock

9:45 1st half Connor gets the ball at the top of the key with 11 seconds on the shot clock and he forced a contested jumper.

8:50 1st half he got the ball with 6 secs and made a three.

3:10 2nd half he get the ball with 3 seconds and makes the 3. He had no choice here.

I still like what he brings to the table outside of the above mentioned.
So you found two instances where he held the ball too long, all game, where he played 31 minutes?

3, to be precise. Why are folks having such a hard time with me saying I don't want a poor shooter jacking up contested threes? It seems pretty logical. I'm not saying he's a horrible player.

He is averaging 5 FGA per game, it isn't like he is some sort of chucker.

Probably because no one understands what you’re trying to say. I’ll try and loosely quote your edited OP ‘CM needs to curb the impulse of being the go to guy with 8 seconds on the shot clock’. I think that was your original complaint. Then you posted four examples, none which supported your complaint. Really they contradicted it.

CM knows he’s not the go to guy when it comes to shooting the ball. It’s been a year long problem in the Iowa offense (just one of a few really), where CM has been receiving the ball back late in the shot clock. You provided two examples where he hit two threes last night late in the clock. That’s huge for this offense. A bonus really. Then, god forbid, he shot two other 3pt within the flow of the offense. The nerve of that guy. People complain because CM isn’t a shooter and the defense sags. People complain because CM shoots too much (5 att / game). I think people just like to complain and further, people like to complain about CM because of WHO he is. The fact is, CM is playing a very well rounded game this year and the more he shoots the more confident he will become. CM really is a decent shooter and can knock down his shot. We haven’t seen a lot of it thus far in his career, but he is coming around. I’ll bet CM is about a .350-.375 career 3pt shooter when it’s all said and done.

Fair enough. I like Connor, I just don’t want him with the ball late in the shot clock. If he gets the ball with 2-3 seconds, I understand him having to jack up a shot. What I don’t care for is he’s getting the ball with 7-8 seconds and determining he’s going to jack up a three and doesn’t look for nor pass the ball. He did it three times last night. Miraculously, one of them went in. I’d prefer Fredrick, Weiskamp or Jbo take those contested threes, if that’s all that’s available.
Your not wrong but when the group on court consists of CM, BE, Till, RK, and JT Connor is likely going to be one of the better options to shoot the rock.

I think every one of our player has at least 3 of these moments during the game. It's basketball. I think this board is just starting to get sick of the non-stop finger pointing at Connor, when he's been playing well.

This is not a Connor problem, this is a Fran problem. For being such a good offensive team, it sure seems like we get stuck with contested 3's a lot more often than not. I would like to see a go to pick & roll or pick & pop set after the motion offense stalls to at least get some better movement late in the shot clock.

WTF are you talking about, he is getting the ball back to him w 6 or under on the shot clock WAY too often.

IMO Connor has been great this season, really happy w his production and play. Anyone w two eyes can see he has really become more comfortable on the court this season.

So you are upset with a guy going 50% from three? o_O

I agree,.. while probably not the preferred shooter, Connor is forced to take the shot..

If Bohannon shuts it down we are going to need Bakari. He is far better than he has shown so far.

I agree and he is probably having a difficult time adjusting to his role. Crispin touched on it during the Syracuse game. Evelyn went from the #1 or #2 option at Valpo to now where he may be the 7th or 8th option.

It needs to click with him that he’s going to be needed for a successful season. Especially a player like him who could be used at multiple positions in different situations.
