Why we always look like stick boys compared to the teams we play. Other than Perk, every guy gets shoved and pushed off their spots constantly. Other than the lack of commitment to defense it would be nice if Fran got pushed on why our guys seem to struggle to make gains in the weight room. Do our guys lift?

It’s so infuriating; it’s literally men vs. boys out there. Joe T and Luka Garza are the only other guys that come to mind besides Perkins in the Fran era.

Fran seems to gravitate to the long wing span guys to cut off angles on defense, and he wants guys who can run the court.
The other component is we just aren’t ever going to consistently get the premium athletes who play with speed and strength. A buddy just texted me that Houston looks like the Houston of way back, or UNLV of the 90s. Iowa doesn’t have the money for those guys, and we still expect athletes to graduate.
I’ll put this here, although it could go in a dozen thread tonight, I’m upset. But, I never once felt cheated walking out of CHA this year (I wasn’t at the EIU game), and I’ll buy my tickets next year. Overall the program is entertaining and the kids are graduating and moving on to be productive in life.

Agreed lucas. There is no way anyone can say this season was disappointing with the roster we had. It is just frustrating as this certainly feels like the ceiling.

If only Nunge had stayed… Keegan was going, as he should have. And, Nunge had good reasons, but my what if is Nunge. We’d have matched up so much better against a lot of teams.
PS, don’t think this makes us bros. You are still a dummy on the OT side. :)

If we can't with the oldest PG and "floor general" in college b-ball, not sure what or when to expect "better"...

Nunge was the one that got away that is for sure.

Not flaming you but I’m kind of tired of the “we expect athletes to graduate” line. Firstly, Iowa’s graduation rate for black athletes is not great and secondly, who the hell cares?

Gary Barta's base.

You want to know why Iowa basketball has been nationally irrelevant for the last 30+ years?

This is it. Period.

Fans who buy tickets to watch the lads try hard. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it but...why should the admin change a thing when your base is perfectly content?

Are you not entertained?! Why ...yes, Gary. We are. Here's our money.

lol

Spot on.

Seems most have accepted complacency and mediocrity as well as the fear of change.

LOL to your LOL. Pony up the cash for a new coach and to buy a bunch of 5 star players, and let’s run the program like Illinois under Lou Henson.

lmao

"Lou Henson"?

You are at least 70 years old, aren't you?

Have you heard about NIL? Ask your grandkids about it.
Sure, and you give generously to the Swarm, right?
The point is, some of us want a program that is above board, and yes, some of us care if kids graduate. Some of us don't want our program to turn into something sleazy.

The fire Fran crowd cracks me up. I assume these are the same posters who have anonymously fired Kirk and Lisa 12 times apiece on the internet.
Nobody wants KF fired, just his son. And Lisa? She’s not even talked about with a star player in CC3 on her roster.

It does not have to be sleazy to win??

Our best tourney showing, we had one - tyler cook. Sure he was inconsistent but when the lights were brightest, he could match up vs teams like this.
I wish the 2020 Hawks would have had the chance to go in the tournament. I think that might have been Fran’s toughest team to date.

What does anyone's personal contribution to the Swarm matter, boomer?

smh

Maybe time for a nap.

You don’t think some Iowa athletes take a relatively easy major?

He earned his degree. I say good for him.
Of course. But I've never seen/heard an Iowa come out and say he "ain't here to play no school". At least give the appearance you are (until NIL, of course).

Not saying that we shouldn’t read the sweet 16. We have to get higher seeds every year and that will help. I know we lost games being a high seed now and then. We seem to always be 5-6 or lower which matches you with a 1-3 seed soon in the tournament. Have to do better in the Big Ten regular season.
