But Iowa's defense has looked pretty salty to me the last couple of games.
Rebounding and defense are one and the same. It's as much about effort as it is about talent. It doesn't matter if you play really good defense during a possession and then give up the offensive rebound. Penn St only hung around the first half because of poor rebounding.key is they have to rebound so they get stops, not just giving up 2nd shots. Kris is upgrade over PMAC in
rebounding. CMAC is a plus rebounder, but you give up scoring.
I'm right there with ya PerryI have read comments in other threads bashing the Hawks for pretty much everything. One of the many is that as long as Fran is the coach we will NEVER be good at defense….wow. The Hawks have been tremendous defensively for two games in a row now.
To be fair, it was against the #126 and #198 ranked offensive efficiency teams.I have read comments in other threads bashing the Hawks for pretty much everything. No argument the defense the last 2 games has been very good. Even with level of opponent. Iowa has played 2 of the worst 3 offenses in the conference on an efficiency basis the last 2 games. And has dominated them on D, which is encouraging.I have read comments in other threads bashing the Hawks for pretty much everything. Yeah I’m not sure how you chime in with “fans don’t know what they’re talking about saying Fran’s teams don’t play d”. Better yes but who did we play.To be fair, it was against the #126 and #198 ranked offensive efficiency teams.
Who is that guy that players go over to on a regular basis?
Well let's not go crazy here. They've played excellent defense the last 2 games. We all hope it continues going forward, but it's been just 2 games and they were against lesser offensive teams. In the previous 16 or 17 games I think they ranked about 130 in defensive efficiency. Theyre at 91 now. We've seen this before where the Hawks put together a couple of good defensive efforts only to slide right back into old habits. Let's see how the rest of the season plays out before praising Fran as a defensive guru.I have read comments in other threads bashing the Hawks for pretty much everything. That's me!!Who is that guy that players go over to on a regular basis?
Our opponents may have something to do with it, but yeah, it has been better.
Would agree but they still need to focus on rebounding. It was like 20-5 at one point in the first half. That’s ridiculous. It’s about effort on the boards and too many times I just don’t see it .But Iowa's defense has looked pretty salty to me the last couple of games.
I wondered that too about Sandfort....Iowa has done a better job of switching on ball screens and identifying shooters. Defense will never be perfect as guys are going to make shots, but the last two games have been encouraging.
Is Sandfort hurt?
Don't know his name, but he's been in that seat in Carver for as long as I can remember, so the players probably know who it is.....Who is that guy that players go over to on a regular basis?
@hawkgasser will like this post. Gassman I didn’t make it down to learn the leanback clap like initially planned, but if you look at the PMac clip in this thread, the guy with glasses on taking a sip of beer is me, watching intently to learn your moves. In the Lounge we know him. He doesn’t use the free board.
