Fran probably isn't but hopefully Iowa administration is done. If he is coaching Iowa next year it will be a disaster IMO.
I'm coming around to the opinion I've heard that Fran will not retire. It will take Beth essentially firing him, or working something out for a better sounding word/phrase other than firing.
Fran grifting for a full buy out. If he is gone after next year, no sense keeping him this coming year.

It cost us less to pay him off and move on. There would be an influx of cash come in for a new coach plus excitement from fans.

Not reading a lot into Fran’s comment. With two games left in Iowa’s season, I don’t know what else he could say at that moment. He could still retire, have something worked out with Beth, or perhaps she has the courage to pull the trigger after the final game.

I think Beth should announce this will be Fran's last season tomorrow morning. The team can go on to upset both MSU and Neb, win the big ten tourney, and take down 2 higher seeded teams in the NCAA tourney to reach Fran's only sweet sixteen ever. Then the scared-to-death-of-change posters have their Tom Davis allegory ready for the next however many years. Everyone wins.
I am sure this is just public posturing. He wants the money that is owed to him and will probably get most of it if not all of it. I would think they would be able to come up with a number that lets him walk and not feel like either side got robbed.
