In the minds of most fans, Fran’s time at Iowa is done. Even if he has a squad of 4- and 5-star players coming in (which he doesn’t), there’s just been too much damage, too much lost goodwill, to recover. Time to part ways now and start over.
I think the silence from Beth is a sign, with all the negativity around this team and low attendance from fans she could easily step out and say Fran and the program has her full support but nothing. Both sides playing their cards just a matter of who goes all in.
If FM won't retire or quit, why would or should Beth wait another day? It serves nothing for her to wait on this decision. The only reason to wait is she's not going to fire him.

Unfortunately it just seems like the athletic department could give two shits about the men’s basketball program. So might as well just let it sit there and write for a couple more years and hope the women can keep raking in the money. I honestly don’t see Fran gettjng fired as ridiculous as that sounds.

I agree. If she was going to keep him she would have a PC to let the fan base know that they are sticking behind him. I don't know how he comes back from this. It is Iowa where they seem to always mess a good opportunity up!

There's more to it than that. Some coaches like to leave on good terms and would rather retire rather than be fired. It's also a stupid comparison cuz most people making that type of decision aren't multi-millionaires.
Iowa is an at will state so I can leave or they can get rid of me if they want. And you are comparing apples to oranges.
What's the o/u on actual butts in seats attendance next season if Fran returns? 4500/game?
