I wasn’t sure about the move (thought Joe had been struggling), but it put JBo back where he’s comfortable - running the offense with the ball in his hands - and it switched up the rotations just enough to bring Perkins in as a defensive presence for the starting lineup. Then you get Joe coming in as a defensive presence with the 2nd unit and I think that’s been a better mix.
Jobo shooting like its 2018 makes our ceiling much higher.
Beat Illinois in Champaign, and win 3 games to win the BTT, something like Rutgers/OSU & Wisconsin & Purdue/Illinois, and Iowa has to be on the 3-line.
+ Would be 12-1 in last 13 games [winning all games (so far) by 10+ pts], all vs B1G competition and most of if it the upper tier teams. Only loss was a single digit loss to a (currently) bubble team. 15-7/25-7 overall.
+ Would have 5 or 6 - possibly 7 or 8, depending on how Virginia and Utah St finish theirs seasons & conference tourneys - Quad1 wins, and all of those but maybe 1, were obtained in road/neutral games. No Quad3 or 4 losses.
Just don't see how the Hawks could be worse than a 3 seed with that resume.
This is our overall top to bottom best team in Fran McCaffrey era IMO
I hope this is the tip of the iceberg for T Perkins. During this mini run of confidence, his offensive game is really good. With the shot clock winding down, he has been creating his own shot. That is huge. There have been times earlier in the year, when we had limited options to take people on and get a good shot. He can also do it in a variety of ways. Off the dribble, post up, three point shot and drives into the lane. So impressed with him right now.
I think the twins took his performance in IC personally....
Not sure I've seen a Fran team look this good for this long of a stretch. The 2015-16 had a good run up to #3 in the country but this team definitely looks the part right now.

That's good coaching. And it's something that some just don't understand.
Really? I thought it was much more even that we could hope to expect on Michigan's court.
He had a run like this earlier in the year and then slipped into an offensive funk. His defensive intensity is always high so that offset things but hopefully he can maintain this upward trend on offensive side. If so this team is really hard to beat.
That's the thing coming from what we saw last year and going into this year with the guys we had coming back.
I knew there'd be growing pains with this younger group, but given the potential, if they hit and finally gelled, they were gonna be a damn fun team to watch.
For one thing, it makes the opposition have to extend to pick up JBo as soon as he crosses half court. That opens up the offense for the rest. With Joe at PG, thy knew he wasn't a threat to shoot the three so they could hang back and pack the lane.
Kris got bodied in the air dunking and laid out falling directly on his tailbone. The replay made it seem even worse than watching it live, then on the very next possession they called a foul on Kris against a Dickenson dunk. On the replay he didn't even touch him. It was egregious. Several missed calls against Michigan like Kris' where they body us while we're around the rim. The game was called fairly for 2/3 of the game, but right when it looked like Iowa was gonna pull away and be up 20+ the refs were allergic to calling fouls on Michigan and called a bunch of tiny BS fouls on Iowa. An obvious hook and hold on diabate got called as a foul on Kris, even the announcers, who were loving Michigan all game, thought it was ridiculous. Michigan only had one or two fouls up until late in the second half.
Spot on but I think they called foul on Patrick, not Kris.
Either way that was a poster by Kris on two bigger guys....
Was wondering where this thread went. So excitable..... The date is the best part. The sad thing is it is probably up there with any team Francis has put on the court in his yawn inducing 12 year tenure at Iowa
I have said he should be fired since year 4 but its definitely the best finish by an Iowa team under Fran.
I still wonder how this Iowa team would have done with a lineup of:
Joe T
Perkins
Kris
Keegan
Rebraca
Would have been much better defensively.
