I haven't posted on here since last year (I had gotten banned and hadn't bothered to get unbanned). I was a staunch KF critic the last few years and I never thought Iowa football would get back. I thought KF had lost interest and wasn't trying. I thought our style of play had been left behind and was in the stone age. I was leading the charge for change, and change NOW. I thought 2002-2004 and 2009 were basically KF getting "lucky" with some players and a special Place Kicker who won us games. That KF was a thieve who was fleecing Iowa for millions of dollars.

Well it is time to admit I was completely wrong. KF has put Iowa football back on top. AGAIN. It has been a joy to watch and I still can't totally comprehend this season. I keep thinking to myself, this team really isn't that great. Yes, they are good, but not THIS good. They surely aren't as good as the 2009 team? But hey, Iowa football, every few years, tends to surprise. And surprise mightily.

Thank you KF. Thanks for not listening to idiots like me. And thank you for what you have done for Iowa football. I won't doubt ever again.

08, takes a man to admit they were wrong. I wasn't one of those calling for Kirk's departure but sure was disappointed last year. November was a terrible month. That said, we lost several we should have won. Tennessee and Manny were the only bad games last year.

I take my hat off to Kirk and his staff, definitely have seen positive change in play calling. But let's hand it to the players, this year they executed.

Glad to have you back in the fold, on to Indy. Have my tickets and the Sequoia loaded. Go Hawks!

I think I had you on my ignore list; you were a handful to say the least. Glad you're able to eat your crow and join in the party.

Join the club of thousands.

Many of us, myself included, just thought the tank had run empty and he no longer enjoyed this process. He looked beaten down, surly and defiant. It's takes a lot of attention, energy and work to get even a winning season at a place like Iowa given our challenges.

We have had 35 years of successful football. Some great years, some average years and a few down years mixed in but for the most part very good football. The problem is we all know what good football looks like and feels like and last year was bad despite 7 wins. We flamed out bad in 2010, not much in 2011, brutal in 2012, rebounded some in 2013 and then came back as uninspired/dysfunctional in 2014. Something was wrong but many of us thought KF would be unwilling to re-evaluate and make the necessary adjustments including going to CJ.

To his credit KF acknowledged on more than one occasion he looked his program and himself in the mirror and did not like what he saw. He made the right adjustments without throwing out his principles which have always been spot on. That takes a special person to do that and the fruit is a special, historic season.

There is absolutely no reason to apologize for being critical of Ferentz over the previous five seasons. He wasn't getting it done. It's not even up for debate.

Overall record was 34-30 and the Big 10 conference record was 19-21.

A few years prior to this stretch, in 2006, while Iowa's highly anticipated season was unraveling and crashing and burning, Ferentz called out his players by saying they had become "fat cats".

The irony was palpable, because that is exactly what Ferentz had become only a few short years later.

In any event, the ship has been righted.....and you have no reason to apologize.

You lost me when you asserted that '02-04 was luck.....I get being critical etc.....but GTFO that a 3 yr run, by Iowa, or hell any team for that matter is luck.

Welcome back, 08.............

If the IOWA coaches can't continually recruit a top 15 (or better) class.....this will never happen again in our lifetimes. The dynasty is being re-built as it was...outsiders are still not welcome.

"If the Iowa coaches can't continually recruit a top 15 (or better) class......" Floyd, when did Iowa last recruit even 1 "top 15 class? I do not remember any such result. During the Minnesota game the announcers noted a most interesting fact. At that time the top 4 teams for the national playoffs were Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State and Notre Dame. Iowa was 5th. They reported that the number of 4 and 5 star members of those teams were: Alabama 60; Clemson and Ohio State were in the high 30s to 40; Notre Dame was between 30 and 35; and Iowa was 8. Those numbers are as I remember. Matt Millen commented that it tells us of the excellent job the Iowa coaches do in both evaluations of players before admittance to school and development after they are on the team. Iowa's natural circumstances of location and population leave it with distinct recruiting disadvantages.
