What about Ben McCollum? Current Drake coach. Other than being born in OC and dominating at NDSU, I know nothing else about him
It’s one game. Shit happens. Heck, two times defending champion Connecticut was blown out by Dayton earlier this season. How the team responds in future games will be telling.

It's not just one game. Nobody on that team even looked interested in playing. Especially after Fran put in the "let's let Wisconsin blow open a 15 point lead line-up" at the end of the 1st half. Then they came out in the second half and nobody even cared.
It's hard to know if this is a serious post.
When Fran wins back to back natties, I'll cut him the same slack Hurley deserves.

We all knew Devries was the guy and we all knew Iowa lacked the gutts to make it happen.
So now we're doing this weird thing where our sports coaches get to be semi retired on the job.
We're becoming NW without the academic standards.
WE beat NW, but I'm not convinced we'll finish ahead of them in conference play. I think Fran had his shot when he had Garza, Keegan and he never brought in any talent to surround those guys. So in my mind, it is never going to happen with Fran. It seems like a lot of fans groove on playing around 0.500 ball and that gets you NCAA tourney invites about 1/2 the time and with Fran, early exit.
Iowa AD has to figure out the NIL situation. I don't see the point in paying big bucks to coaches and then pinching pennies on NIL. WE need a younger guy with brains, marketing ability, but not the ego of an Alford.

And I'm not too confident about McCollum. From what I've heard Drake is his dream job.

He was born in Iowa City and from Storm Lake area. I'd be ok with it but not getting DeVries is another failure.
Decade and a half and Iowa still plays zero defense or rebounds as a Team, They only play token defense and token rebound when they have 1 or 2 Players on the roster who excel at it but it is not the norm , oh and how many NCAA tourney wins has that fraud Fran won at Iowa in 15 Years and People are actually debating whether He should be fired? He should have been fired long ago if Barta wasnt the biggest mental midget to ever be put in charge of large amounts of money , I would dig up the bones of Frank Lauterbur and know His remains sitting in a bag on Fran's seat would improve the Iowa Coaching and recruiting and He wasn't even a basketball Coach .
No, it’s not one game - it’s a long and tired trend. His teams have routinely sucked at defensive efficiency, finishing 72 or worse 11 times in 15 years. They don’t rebound, either, and they have very little talent (he can’t recruit). Beth needs to hit home runs here and in football, because these coaches will sink further into futility rather than rise above mediocrity. Sad state, but Beth has a chance to play heroine.

I feel like Fran has just lost something on top of the stuff he never has had.
10 creampuff OOC wins each year and 7 or so B1G wins against mostly bad B1G Teams and then get a NIT invite or actually get in the Tourney and get bounced is Fran at Iowa in a nutshell and Barta swallowed the hook, People who have seen good Teams and good Coaching for Years and do not live in a biased bubble know Fran is not a Coach who will ever take a Team to the final 4 , EVER. Fire Him at end of Season if He does not retire and get a Guy who can actually Coach all phases and can recruit better than an intern .
Bluder had a 2nd place B1G finish in year 1 and a Championship by Year8.
How many conference 2nd place and Championships does Fran have? My recollection is his best finish was 3rd.
