I've felt all along that the genesis of what we see today out of the MAGA movement was Obama becoming president. That "broke" a lot of republicans so to speak - it scared them because in their thinking it meant that White Male America was losing their grip on power that had been in place since people began landing on the shores of North America.

When it gets right down to it, there's a certain percentage of Americans that quite simply will never accept anything other than a white male being president of this country. Hell, to some of them, Kamala Harris - not white, female, somewhat liberal - is pretty much the antichrist.
