I wonder who neb thinks is tougher opponent msu

It would be interesting to hear there take if they are honest. I know Wiscy said Iowa hit harder than bama.

Well, I know Wisconsin said Iowa's line is better/more physical than Alabama"s.

Oh and I don't really care what Nebraska has to say

A few on their board said they thought MSU "rip" us apart.

They think Iowa is crappy because they only won by 8 over their bad team but think MSU is really good. Husker reasoning.

It was not our finest offensive game at Nebby outside of 5-7 plays. We were 0-9 on third down which is horrid. We played bend but do not break on D because we knew Tommy was going to make a mistake every 6-8 throws and he did. Stylistically I can understand why Nebby would give the nod to MSU but from our standpoint it was about getting the W and the best way to do that in those conditions is let them beat themselves .... and they did.

Also keep in mind we were coming off a short week and they had 13 days off to rest and prep for us only.

All this being said, we are big underdogs against MSU and need to play a great game to win. This is truly the big time and the quarter finals of the playoffs.

We had an "off" day on offense and still won in their house. Turnovers only happen when you are in the right place at the right time.

Do we need a great game to beat MSU? `Maybe. But nebbie did it, so I like our chances. We are similar teams, either team can win.

Big underdogs? All computers don't agree, and none are accurate.

This one says Iowa 53% chance of winning.

We win 23 stats to 11. Almost exactly the same as we did vs nebbie.

I was at both games, I'll give it a crack. I think defensively the two teams are about equal. Iowa probably played a little more soundly than MSU did, but the Spartans had a few injury issues and are pretty young, especially in the secondary. Offensively, I think MSU is the better team. Beathard is a good quarterback, but Connor Cook exceeds him IMO with his throwing ability and the Spartans and surrounded by a few more playmakers. Should be an excellent game in Indy, and turnovers, as always, will be the key to the game.

I couldn't care less what Nebraska fans think. I might be more interested to hear what the players think.
I think they all came away still thinking of Beathard as more of a game manager, but Beathard didn't show them a lot in that game either. If I had never seen him before I wouldn't have been too impressed either.

Agree. CJ is much better than he showed in Lincoln. Easily his worst game of the year, IMO. I'm sure the cold and wind had something to do with it, but he wasn't making throws he usually makes with ease. Maybe his groin injury was contributing some. Whatever the case, I expect to see a much sharper CJ in Indy. We're going to need him at his best, and I think he'll deliver.

60 degrees for that game on November 7th. Hard to compare a game at 20 degrees and 60.

Go back and watch the 3 or 4 games before CJ got hurt. I just hope that KF and GD unleash the gunslinger CJ Beathard and let him do what he is capable of doing. Can't go conservative offense in this one. Come out guns blazin' and NEVER stop.

BTW: Remember after the Wisky game that the Badgers' defense said Iowa's O-line was every bit as good as Alabama's? Yes...that's what Wisky said, and they would know.

This is going to be a battle as long as iowa doesn't do the bend but don't break. Blitz every time needed. We can't give cook the time to throw. You think indy game was bad. Cook will thrash us and their D isn't as bad as Indiana. We need to stop their passing game somehow. This is a given. If we can do that somehow. We will win this game.

Conor Cook probably IS the better passer at this point in their respective careers. They're both winners (obviously) and both make good decisions. Beathard is the better runner. I personally think Cook is better right now. Beathard may be better at the end of next season than Cook is now, and he's better for Iowa's needs right now than Cook would be. I wouldn't trade.

I would agree overall Cook is better right now. There is a reason he's considered a lock 1st rounder. However, his shoulder is not 100%, hence the reluctance to go deep.

Dude, thx for that cool ass link...

Iowa should at least get a little credit for its incredible 3rd quarter efficiency. Iowa ran only 7 plays but scored TDs on two of them. With the 11 point lead and the wind in our face, the offense was pretty much pure vanilla in the 4th quarter. This is a main reason that the game stats look so one sided.

Correct. We got a lead and played well enough with the lead to stay one score (or more) ahead. Nebraska (and Turnover Tommy) kept trying to do too much while behind, and that led directly to the final turnover margin.

The line has actually fluctuated from 4.5 to 3.5, so "big" underdogs may be a bit of an exaggeration.

That will be their only hope left to argue about how they were better. If MSU beats us, then they'll ignore the head to head and go with the transitive defeat... Not the reasonable ones, but the message board trolls sure will.

Exactly. I just watched the game again, and Iowa really went pure vanilla after getting that 4th score. KF did what KF does. I don't think he felt Nebraska could score twice on our defense without the benefit of TOs, so he made sure that didn't happen. I was actually a little frustrated we went into a shell during the 4th quarter, but in the end it worked. I think the wind was a big factor. It certainly impacted a couple of Armstrong's throws. Plus, I noticed Iowa's WRs had a few drops. I'm guessing the cold was also a factor. Iowa adjusted and found running plays that worked. Nebraska put the game in the hands of Armstrong, which was a mistake.

Along with a pick six. We won, and nothing stays the same from game to game. Iowa will come out with the whole playbook indoors.

MSU will take a page from Pitt. We are going to see blitzes, CJ has to be protected by OL and play selection.

63 yr old Nebraska fan says Iowa beats MSU. There is something magical about the the way Iowa makes no mistakes. They won Friday at a pretty tough place to win and played far better than MSU did.

Of course I'd go with Conor Cook but I really like CJ. I love to watch him play. He's a gamer. Second fav in the conference.
