Some good info on the upcoming IC Duals. Logan Ryan is the only name listed at 141 as Carton appears to still be injured. Coop/Skylar and Rhoads/Paddock at 157 and 165, although Brands said Paddock will wrestle against Maryland. That leaves the only unknown at 157 for Iowa's first B1G dual of the season.

Any good match ups in the 4 duals?

Technically, I don't think the Maryland dual is a conference dual...similar to Penn State a few years ago...they just happen to be included this year.

Why ya gotta bust my chops Luther? It's a B1G opponent regardless. :)

Brands also says about the competition, “That will probably change next year because we’re getting a lot of people that want to come in."

I thought this as well, so I asked the U of I and they told me that it would in fact be a conference dual.

This is great news. Hope they are able to move it to Saturday or Sunday but that could be tough.

I know this has been hashed out here before, but if they invited Grand View, UNI and Wartburg this thing would sell out....even if it's on a Friday. But maybe that's not the goal, maybe they're truly looking for a few cupcake matches.

Not a chance.

I checked Maryland's website and they only list Iowa as the opponent and has the asterisk, so I will stand corrected. I had thought that maybe Maryland would partake in the other duals as well as a warm up for someone else nearby on their schedule..my mistake!

Obviously they aren't going to invite these 3 but wouldn't it be more entertaining?
Yes it would be a great day but it wouldn't be close to a sell out. I like the current set up and hope they keep adding a team like Maryland or even a little tougher team next year. I don't think it fits with our training phases to have 3 tough teams this early in the season.

I'm all for loyalty, but Iowa needs to be wrestling D1 teams. Why waste a day wrestling opponents who are not as good as the people you face in the room every day?

UNI, Iowa State, and Central Michigan. Those are mid-tier (top-25) D1 schools that we don't see in the B1G.

If they have the travel budget: Duke, Oregon State, UNC, Stanford, Lehigh, ODU. That would add variety to the schedule.

Maryland is a decent start.

Hey IA Wrestle...got any nuggets for us about tomorrow's duals? Also, I think it would provide an interesting perspective to do interviews with some members of the opposing teams. How do they feel about coming into Iowa City, especially knowing they won't fare well?

100% agree. A team at ideas level should start with harder teams. It will interesting to see how they do after facing a top opponent right off the bat.

Will we be able to listen to the dual tomorrow morning on tunein ap or only through big10plus?
