If Fran Left Atter The Season....

How is that not accurate?

Lehigh was 12-19 and 4-23 before Fran.

UNCG was 7-20 and 9-19 before Fran.

Siena was 6-24 and 14-16 before Fran.

I think we all know where Iowa was at before Fran.

He’s taken each one of these programs to the NCAA tournament. Again, how is that not accurate?

lehigh went to the ncaa tournament the year before fran took over. uncg went to the ncaas frans 2nd year there, and this board has made it clear the first 2 years in a program are not his responsibility.

I won’t elaborate but I know for a fact that Fran has had opportunities to coach at other Power 5 schools since he came here. I also know for a fact he was advised by some pretty influential people not to take the Iowa job because it is hard to recruit here. Fran wanted the challenge and thankfully he took it.

Maybe you guys would rather have Tim Miles. Nebraska has way better facilities than we do and look what he has done there. He might get fired pretty soon.

A school asking permission from Barta to talk to Fran is not an offer. The argument from Barta was that Pitt had expressed some interest in Fran, that is not an offer. Fran should have gone and Barta should have let him go if Fran really had serious Pitt interest. Whatever good Reputation FRan has been blown with a 3 year run middle of the pack B-ball in B1G.

Really about the only good thing I can say about Alford at this point is that when he left it didn't cost Iowa any money in a buy out.

I have a generally positive view of Fran's tenure. While relatively mediocre and undistinguished as to team performance, there have been enough good moments to keep interest at times. Him taking another position and leaving of his own accord, thus saving Iowa from a buy out, would only add to his positives.

Barta, on the other hand, has demonstrated his incompetence multiple times. Including this instance.

For reasons that shouldn’t need to be explained to persons of average intelligence, MOST coaches take over struggling programs. Yes. MOST.

Good Lord! What’s wrong with some of you people? Seriously.

True and far more reasonable people allow a grace period for the new coach to get his guys in place and let the old coach’s move on. Not this group though. What’s wrong with some of you people, seriously?

In before I hear a nine year grace period comment. I’m talking about Fran’s first two or three years.

How can you say that? Worst defense in the Big and in bottom 20% of NCAA? No true PG in 6 tears? No shot blocker in 5 years and no solid PF in 6 years. Are you kidding me?
Wtf. Cook is solid. White was solid. Hell I even consider Kreiner a solid pf.

I’ll just leave this here. Not that I expect you to ever admit that you are a dumbass.

Why do you feel the need to insult those who disagree with you? You are somewhat satisfied with the results. Fine. Many of us are tired of watching the team fall apart and it makes it worse when our head coach has acted like a fool on occasion. With the amount of resources our university has, I personally think it’s ok to want to raise the bar and not just settle for the status

Making up facts is NOT disagreeing.

I enjoy the back and forth and this site. But cite FACTS not bullshit statements.

I’m guessing not. Maybe a mid-major or a MW/AAC type of team.

Let’s face it Fran will be here for 2-3 more years. We will always be middle of the pack and never contend for a Big Ten Title while he is here. We all should accept the making the tournament and losing 2nd round as a great/tremendous year.
That’s football. Oops wrong board.

Message boards are sometimes a place where people come to express their frustration or their joy regarding their teams. Sometimes it goes too far one way or the other but it is what it is. We aren’t doing research papers here.
People are frustrated with the tean’s collapse. Many of us feel it’s time to move on. The FACT is, it really doesn’t matter because Fran will be back next year if he wants to be.

Yeah, I don't get this. Apparently, Fran is a horrible coach that can't recruit and no P5 school would want him. Yet, he just beat out 8 B1G schools in the conference this year.

It would be nice if fans could come up with some adjectives between "great" and "horrible".
