Depends on the pick but yes. A 6'8" 1st team Big Ten player that averaged 20 and 8 and has good athleticism and has shown he has the ability to shoot threes.

You draft based on upside and he has that. I'm not drafting him top 10 but if I'm bottom half of first round, I draft him.
You are correct when you say they draft based on upside. Usually that means drafting someone with around the same skill level as Kris but is also 2-3 years younger then what Kris is.

If I was an NBA GM I would laugh at anyone's pro potential on the Iowa roster not named Murray. The way he has been disrespected as a unanimous first team all big ten selection and clear team mvp by too many morons in this fanbase is fuggin embarrassing.

NBA or not he's all time hawk and deserves the respect that he's earned carrying this team most of the season despite being the focal point of every opponent's defensive game plan. JFC

I think he has a skill set that could compete in the NBA but he doesn't seem to have the mental edge. I think he has a career in Europe somewhere though, if he wants it.

He'll be a 1st round pick, it would be stupid to come back.
Mock drafts have him as a mid first round pick. That was before the season ended. I suspect he drops some and in reality when the draft comes around he'd be a late 1st round and probably definite 2nd round pick. While a late first round pick garnered a $2 million annual contract, that's about a $25 million total loss compared to a top half of the first round pick.

I think he could guarantee himself a higher initial contract by staying another year. You only have one shot at being drafted.

I really think Kris is a GREAT young man. If he were younger and did not have a twin who was making a mark already in the NBA, I would say he would come back. But, I just don't see it. I am sure it is hard for him to not take the next step like his bro. That said....it does not mean that he is completely NBA ready.

When chatting about iowa basketball, the word soft seems to capture the players. If you watch the NBA, you would also know that passive players are not hot assets to have. "Passive" new word for you

I don't buy the idea of coming back to college to work on your game and develop for another year. The NBA allows you to focus entirely on basketball so that seems the obvious development option.

I would draft him in the second round. He's a shooter - and a shooter only in the NBA.

He will be a 2nd rounder for sure, probably getting a 2 way contract between the G-League and the NBA. Whether Keegan can help him elevate his draft status is up to debate, but he's gone either way.

He can't create for himself well enough for NBA, Keegan could create better but so far he is pretty much only able to be a spot shooter and rebound-putback guy on offense. Neither have the quickness and handles for creating in NBA at the moment and Kris is way behind between the two IMO

I don't think he gets drafted if he goes this year.

Being one year older and playing for a worse team won't help anything in my opinion. Unless he really enjoys his college life, then by all means stay. He's a 2nd rounder for sure.

Kris has been a great Iowa player...solid throughout his years. More importantly, he is a class act guy. But to answer the original question...No.

I would draft him, if you said draft in the first round I would say no. But I would draft him to have him on your roster or D league team. He has some weaknesses but again in the NBA if he had great point guards who can penetrate and dish to him for open treys that could be perfect for him. Most teams have those guards.

Passing thought that I've been carrying around,... Watching Kris play, it occasionally seems like he's maybe got other things on his mind,.. Makes me wonder if he really enjoys the game, or perhaps he just happens to be pretty good at something that he's not 100% invested in.

2nd round bench player.
He will be decent in the nba with good coaching and being surrounded by talented players. 10-15 min 6-10 pt role player. Will bounce around every few years to fill needs on random rosters.

I think the bold comment is a very valid point that I had not considered. Much different than fighting to get open like Iowa because of personnel.

I Have also noticed his disconnects. You could be right?

And thats pretty much all Keegan is.

Even Garza is pretty much only used as a pick and pop jump shooter when he gets in.

More than half the nba fits into the 3 and D category.

A large percentage of the nba is guys you barely notice because 2 or 3 guys do 90% or more of the shot creating on most teams.

No one is drafting Kris to be a potential star, thats not in the range of possibilities. They are already completely aware of this.

The part Iowa fans don't understand is you need the versatile role players to win in the nba to create spacing for the stars to be stars.

Multiple teams went straight at him this year because he’s not a great defender.
Lol, if you think thats the reason, they had much better options to pick from than going at Iowas best defender.

You go at a teams best offensive player to get them in foul trouble. Especially one that plays for Fran who has been told avoid fouls at all cost.

I wouldn't draft him if I had a lottery pick. I would draft him in the mid-late 1st if I needed shooting and rebounding. I'd draft him anywhere if he was available in the 2nd.

I would but he'd definitely be more of a project player than his brother. His upside might be good enough to warrant being a starter later in his career but I never saw the same ability in him that his brother seems to have. His brother is a bonafide NBA all star potential. I think Kris would most likely trend towards being a productive starter at his peak in a best case scenario.

Obviously, I could be wrong and I'm no expert but I just wouldn't draft him until late first round at this point and time.

Agreed. He might eventually be able to start for a playoff team, but I don't think it will be immediate. But he'd be a good bench option for pretty much anyone, even in his rookie year.

I don't pretend to be an NBA expert but Kris doesn't look like he is ready to make the jump. Keegan was ready but Kris needs another year of college ball although I doubt he comes back.

We’ll agree to disagree on him being Iowa’s best defender.

Edit: On second thought, maybe you’re right. Which says a lot about how bad we were defensively this year.

Kris is definitely Iowas best defender, which is not a high bar.

Hes handcuff by being the teams best offensive weapon playing for a coach who absolutely does not want fouls.

If Kris was the 4th or 5th option on a team he'd be free to play agressive defense.
