LOL...WTF?

On Wednesday, Bill Melugin a national correspondent for Fox News took to X, formerly Twitter, to report a "Colombian woman who crossed illegally into El Paso, Texas and was released into the U.S. was given an ICE check-in date in NYC in 2031," adding that her immigration attorney, Matthew Kolken said "it's one of the most shocking things he's seen in his nearly 30 years of immigration law."

"Kolken tells me his client is a legitimate asylum seeker with what he feels is an air tight case, but because the system is so backlogged with illegitimate asylum claims, he's not sure they'll ever get a chance to argue it in court with her next check in 8 years into the future," Melugin wrote on X.

"It made me realize the Biden administration is basically providing backdoor amnesty for anyone who wants to show up at the border," Kolken said, according to Melugin.

According to the Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project, a nonprofit organization aiming to provide asylum seekers with legal and community support, as of spring 2023 some ICE offices are scheduling first appointments or follow-up appointments many years in the future.

Similar migrant cases have been given immigration court dates more than a decade away. In Brownsville, Texas, migrants who arrived in the U.S. in May showed paperwork with designated court dates set as late as 2032 and 2035 in Chicago and Florida, according to the New York Post.

In May, backlogs at immigration courts stood at 2.1 million cases waiting to be heard, as of December the Immigration Court backlog passed 3 million pending cases, according to the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) report.

So, you work here for 7 years, build a family, go to your amnesty hearing and get denied. Are you deported? Insane.

This is what happens when people want to spend the money building a wall rather than spending the money on getting enough judges and courtroom help.

This is what happens when the libs refuse to change the asylum laws and lib leaders refuse to enact policies and E/Os that would stop this stuff in its tracks.

"It made me realize the Biden administration is basically providing backdoor amnesty for anyone who wants to show up at the border," Kolken said, according to Melugin. "

That is some quality journalism right there, even for Fox News.

This point should be a slam dunk for both sides, yet it never happens.

Appropriate enough money to build the facilities and hire staff, judges, and security so the backlog can be resolved. Put the resources in place, issue new court dates, and if a no-show, the person is now here illegally and subject to lifetime expulsion,
While the backlog is being dwindled down, commonsense laws pertaining to immigration should be put in place.
1. the number of asylum seekers reduced
2. Direct/clear path to citizenship for those who apply legally
3. Harsh punishment for anyone who employs an illegal ( punishing illegals for working illegally is not a deterrent to the persons benefitting from reduced labor costs)

When asylum or pretend asylum seekers know they are going to be let in and have a 5 to 10-year head start, there is no reason not to come to the US , we have to change the incentive so there are no longer foolish things happening like waiting eight years to hear a case.

Delay, delay, delay...

Have they hired Trump's lawyers?

Sounds like congress needs to better fund the immigration courts if they are serious about eliminating the backlog of cases.
Why are all these men in their 20s requesting asylum while leaving their families behind? Are we still pretending they’re coming here because they’re afraid of violence or the climate? What if we just started with being honest about shit?
