Seton Hall completely took us out of our 3 game with smothering man to man D and the team adjusted.
On the road SH made great runs to cut the lead, we reponded every time.
This is a very exciting team.
Kris apears to be just as good as Keegan was last year, even better maybe? Wth!

Interesting that SH was known for defensive pressure. Iowa handled it well.

Defensive rebounding still needs some work (gave up 18 offensive rebounds). And we still won by 16. Tells you how good this team is & COULD be; the ceiling is high.

I didn't where to put this so I'll put it here...

I just can't get over how good Rebraca was tonight...

50% from the field (3-6)
4-5 from FT
11 boards (4 offensive, 7 defensive)
4 blocks
10 points

A case could be made that he was the MVP tonight (and in most night's he would be but Kris was exceptional tonight).

I'm blown away by how they handled the pressure. SH closed the gap several times and I thought here we go. They stepped up time and again with clutch plays to pad the lead.

Can't really tell the difference between Kris and Keegan.. Both basically have the same skill sets. It's been a privilege watching them both play.

Rebounding will be a concern all year. Teams with great front courts like Indiana will be a tough matchup for us.

The good news is for the first time in years we have multiple good on ball defenders on the perimeter.

This is probably a top 25 team right now, hopefully they are a top 25 team in March when it matters.

So bizarre watching Kris, it's like watching Keegan all over again. Same demeanor, same skill set. Twins are weird, these two are really weird because they are world class athletes.
Weird in an incredible way. If had twins I would want then to be Keegan and Kris.
Wouldn't we all. Lol
Such class acts too!

I know fran likes to keep turnovers at 11 or less

do you know what a good defensive rebounding percentage is? I don't; you or anybody can answer. giving up 18 offensive rebounds on 43 missed Seton Hall shots seems like a lot

Kris had a great game tonight but as the season progresses I expect him to be a little more inconsistent and less efficient then keagan. That’s mainly because Kris doesn’t appear to be as good in the post/finishing around the basket.

So, SH is one of my complaints about college bball. They can't shoot. Their only competitive shot is to foul, and foul, and foul. They just count on the refs to get tired of calling all the fouls. And, invariably, the refs do...usually by the end of the season when it counts.

Our defense goes down a notch when Rebraca is out. Playing well this year.
Rebraca may have actually made the biggest jump from this year to last just based on defense.

His ability to switch to a guard from the 5 spot is huge for this team.

He was completely lost at the start of last year and now he's playing flawlessly in terms of his responsibilities.

2 of the 8 Iowa turnovers were at the start of the 2nd half (Tony with the bad pass and the Ulis with the bad pass). Fran of course was not having that & called time out.

Courtney Eldridge got drenched in the locker room celebration (he had the scout)

I don't know brother, he is new to this role as the main man and seems to be relishing it. He looks to be the total package like Keegan is.
D, inside game, short range, 3 point shot.
He looks just as good as Keegan to me.
He's a badass.

The game is a whole lot easier when you have multiple guys who can get to the bucket for an easy shot. Perkins has really improved his game in that area and has all the speed and physicality that you need from your point guard to finish through contact and keep the ball in front of him on defense. His development along with Kris doing Keegan things raises this team’s ceiling significantly.

Looking at this game I agree completely. If he can do it consistently this year, look out.

Need a little more time and data to call this one, but he ain't far off - at all. That's for sure.

Agree on the rebounding. It’s gonna be pretty much on Murray and Rebraca.

if you watched, many of those offensive rebounds came after our rebounder was literally pushed out of bounds or under the basket.

He looked terrific tonight. It helps not having Bohannon let his man get into the lane 20 times per game. It kept the rotations in place for Rebraca to be in the right spot. He is the key.

Fran knows offense, that's for sure.

This.

This is why Iowa usually wins the November & early December big matchups.

When things get physical & refs start letting things go, Iowa usually struggles in mid-February & obviously March Madness.

This was a game that Iowa seems to win under Fran in November. Fran would lose this exact same matchup on February 27th.

Good win though & not trying to be a downer. 🙃

Agreed, this type of defense was what I was envisioning for last year but it got derailed with subtraction by addition.

Its refreshing to finally be on par or better than the rest of the league athletically and not have to rely on 3pt shooting.
