Imagine Being a Farmer Who Voted for Trump

Well…it is okay to hate liberals. 🥴

So, is farm assistance synonymous with student loan forgiveness? 🤔 At least farmers are producing something tangible.
And that is a perfect answer in today’s MAGA Transactional Society….an answer one should expect….But with a thought process such as this Hans, why should anyone think it necessary to place the 10 Commandments any here for public viewing?

I have no doubt that farmers believe(d) that would be bailed out if Trump effed up. However, considering Grassley is trying to take away the tariff ability of the dumbass in chief I wonder if there is a little more concern that the funds won't be forthcoming on his part. Boy that would be a hard lesson to learn. Imagine finding out a known liar also lied to you.

Irreparable? Anything can be undone. Even a vasectomy. 😳
Ever heard the expressions you can't unring a bell, you can't put the toothpaste back in the tube, and you can't put a jinni back in the bottle? If other nations can find more reliable trading partners for the same or lower prices, why would they come back? If they think the US has arbitrarily and capriciously imposed tariffs on them, why would they continue to do business with us if they can sell to another market?

I come from a small town in Iowa and been around farmers most of my life. I think I have learned a couple of things about “farmers” as a group…..1) for the most part, they are pretty good folks who really take pride in the job as providers of food for the world (it’s Godly)……2) they dont like to be talked down to or thought of as dumb farmers (that’s human nature)….3) they know when they make a mistake but don’t wanna talk about it (that’s pure Iowan)….4) they will seldom if ever admit to anyone other than themselves, they made a mistake (that’s MAGA/Trump)…
Why do Iowa farmers (farmers in general) vote Republican/Trump…….there are your reasons “why”!
Which is why I say f*ck them. Why give farmers a subsidy so they can continue with their stubborn regressive worldview? Let them experience the pain the rest of us will feel and they might just wake up from the MAGA fever dream.

That’s the thing. I don’t think other nations can find as reliable supplier for many goods, and I don’t think the buying power of the U.S. can be replaced. That said, I don’t think the tariffs will have the effect Trump thinks they will. We’ll still export a lot of raw agricultural goods, probably just not as much as before. And the U. S. will still be the end market for a lot of consumer goods produced elsewhere. We’ll just be paying more for them.
When Trump imposed his tariffs in the first term and China reciprocated, soybean exports from U.S. didn’t go to zero, they fell by about 15% or so.

I saw some American farmers being interviewed about the tariff impacts. Several are panicking. One husband and wife believed that the revenues from the tariffs will be directed to make sure farmers aren't hurt.
