Indiana at Michigan

25-0 run to end the half. Down by 21 - Bye-Bye Michigan. Might was well watch WVU and Iowa State...................
That one also got interesting in a hurry. ISU was up 15 and only up 4 at half. WVU is using its quickness to draw fouls. Also Hilton Magic = fans losing their sh!t after each call

Indiana to long and athletic for UM to handle.

Not sure why so many were enamored with Michigan but gave IU no respect.

Probably as simple as Michigan has played Iowa and IU hasn't yet.

Indiana is a force to be reckoned with. Michigan doesn't look very good and they are getting no calls what so ever.

Not sure I've ever seen 25 straight points by one team, even in high school. That is one heck of a run on one hand, and quite a drought on the other! I would usually say warm up the bus, but they're at home.

Neither team has crap for a post presence. Hayes and Happ absolutely destroyed them.

Costello will wreck them. Stone, Carter, and Layman will wreck them. Woody and Uthoff will wreck them. Hammonds and Haas will beyond wreck them.

They rely on the perimeter and driving to the rim. Can't drive to the rim when there are legitimate big men in there. Can't focus on defending the perimeter when there are legitimate scorers in the lane.

Michigan is a good matchup for them because MIchigan is basically Indiana w/out a stud like LaVert. No post presence on either team.

Indiana and Ohio State are the teams that will give Iowa fits with their frontlines. Indiana appears to be very underrated by everyone and seem to be the team to beat in the Big 10.

Wow. Agreed with most comments (as far as Indiana deserving respect) but I would chalk this one up to "Sh*t Happens." Michigan at some point must have went into a coma.

I'm assuming you mean backcourt, because Indiana has no front court

scUM really laying a load in their shorts at home.
I think this is the less desirable of the two outcomes as far as how it might help the Hawks. But, as someone already noted, a loss by either one sure doesn't hurt Iowa.

Yea, I would agree with the "sh*t happens" and coma comment. This UM team is ranked 4th in scoring defense 2 pts behind the leader MSU at 62 a game and 4 pts better at D than IU and 5th at scoring offense, 8 pts behind the leader which is IU at 85 per game so things are just not adding up with IU probably playing the less riskier schedule too to this point.

IU is real tough tonight for sure and I am amazed at how much harder IU is playing than UM. Annouby is special tonight too. Fran had in him on campus with Wagner I believe it was?

Tom Crean may just have found a two-car funeral that even he can't screw up.

But I still have faith he will.

I wouldn't say they have no front court. Bryant is a good player but someone the Woody usually matches up well against. He doesn't have great foot speed and is an old school back to the basket player. Troy Williams can cause some issues for teams with less mobile PF but Uthoff is a bigger, longer more skilled player that can guard on the perimeter. It's a good match up for Iowa but not for every team.

I might be proven wrong, but I think if Hayes and Happ can dominate a game against Indiana, so can every other team in the B1G that has any size and length at all.

I think your right in that if a team has a PF that can score in the post you can take advantage of Troy Williams defensively. How many college teams are disciplined enough to keep attacking that mismatch though? Williams causes his own issues in transition and off the dribble. I think Bryant is a good player but Indiana just lacks depth at that position.

You're going more than a little overboard here.

IU clearly has some guys that can defend and score in the lane in Bryant Williams and Ananouby. They're not wide but they're long and athletic.

I watched them play Wisconsin and Happ and Hayes had good days. But, Hayes is basically a face up player anymore and does most of his work off the dribble, and Happ is very much a fineness post player, he gave Bryant allot of problems but it was all with quickness and spin moves.

They won't have an advantage on any of the teams you mentioned but they won't be at a big disadvantage most of the time either and I wouldn't be surprised to see IU beat any of those teams.

If Purdue could ever get proper spacing and feed the post they should dominate everybody but their guards suck.

I probably am, I just f'ing hate Indiana

I thought this board was definitely understating them and I think the game is a confirmation of that. Having said that, this is a bad matchup for Michigan. Basically the same team but Indiana has much better talent.

Crazy loss at Hilton for ISU to a short handed WVU squad

It honestly doesn't surprise me a whole lot. With Naz going out their starters have played a ton of minutes and they get little production out of the bench. Basketball season is a grind and look like they're wearing down, especially with McKay being dinged up.

Perhaps Indiana will hit a wall soon, but right now they are playing some good basketball. As a fan of the game, I respect other teams that play together and compete with enthusiasm. Indiana is doing that right now!

Indiana is better than most of us want to admit. I think it will take a 15-3 record to win the conference. Lose 4 games and Indiana may well take it outright.

Yogi Ferrell is the best Guard in the Big Ten and Indiana has improved a ton on defense. This team is really, really good. Have to give Crean credit for the way Indiana is playing right now compared to where they were in the non-conference

I am very impressed with Indiana. They are going to be very tough to beat.

Indiana has played a very soft schedule so far, but to their credit they have been blowing a lot of teams out. They are definitely a legitimate contender and a very good team.

With that said, they still are only 5th in the Big 10 according to KenPom (which accounts for how good IU has looked against weaker competition):
  • Iowa (2)
  • Michigan State (6)
  • Maryland (10)
  • Purdue (13)
  • Indiana (20)
  • Michigan (39).
Before last night's games, RPIforecast projected the top of the Big 10 to look like this:
  • Iowa (15-3)
  • Indiana (13-5)
  • Maryland (13-5)
  • Michigan (12-6)
  • Michigan State (12-6)
  • Purdue (12-6)
After last night, Indiana will probably be projected to finish 14-4 in the Big 10. That still means a 14-4 finish likely gets Iowa a share of the Big 10 championship, as long as we at least split the series with Indiana.

Always surprised to see the hate for Indiana on here.

The Indiana has no post comment was a funny one. Bryant is pretty competent and getting better every game. Yogi probably is the best guard in the B1G. The only player in the top 5 for Pts, Assists, and 3pt% and playing really good defense. Iowa is still the team to beat in the B1G, easily.

I still think Iowa is the team to beat. That said, IU played a great game against a Michigan team that appeared to give up.
