I am actually slightly surprised with her progress after three games. I should not be because she's CC.

Yes, quite impressive actually… Her second game, even though she scored less points was better than her first, and this was far & away her best… Things are slowing down for her.

Hell, if her team ever learns how to catch and finish, she might end up averaging 20pts and eight assist, which would be pretty phenomenal

Who made this WNBA schedule, you would think you would like to get your #1 draft pick her legs under her momentum before facing off against top teams. Just seems like a terrible marketing decision.

Your league is struggling to get eyeballs, obviously struggles with parity. You have new people turning in to see how lopsided it is.

How does free agency and revenue sharing work with the WNBA? Presumably with the influx of cash that Clark is going to bring in, hopefully they can grab a couple free agents to replace the bums.
It's hard to believe that everyone in the league was a former All-America in college. Definitely different levels now.

That's what I was saying the other day.

It was a misguided attempt by the WNBA to showcase both Caitlin AND their best teams right at the beginning of the season while they might still have peak viewership.

The fact is Clark would've drew numbers regardless of who they were playing because nobody gave a f*** about who the best WNBA teams were.

They laid all their cards out on the table right from the start, and unless this team as a whole improves, it will have more or less backfired on them.

Will they still have "better" viewership because of CC? Of course.

But in order to maximize viewer retention, they themselves should've exercised way more patience.

I'm not gonna say all is lost yet though, because it's still only 3 games into the season. But the clock is ticking.......

I looked up #33 (Katie Lou Samuelson) and her past accolades boggled my mind. I would have thought she was a 2nd rounder who scrapped their way to playing time by watching her so far. She didn't play last year so likely coming off of injury, but her career stats aren't exactly mind blowing either.

It seems to me there's just an overall lack of talent across the board just due to the talent pool being smaller. Seems like women's sports in general are gaining a lot more traction and popularity now, so I would expect the talent pool to grow substantially and even out the playing field a bit more.

You heard it here first… This fever team will be sub 500. They are that bad, CC on the other hand will do nothing but trend up from here on. She understands what she is supposed to do, Christie sides for the most part gave her the ball, and she will be the best player on the worst team for the rest of the year. But she’ll get enough looks to get plenty of positive press for the team & the WNBA and she’ll get better and better and better …
I know at this point team USA is a pipe dream but the vets have to be thinking she’s pretty good stuck on a shit team, and they might like to receive some of the those dimes the fever can’t finish.

Yeah I think right now anyway she would be better served not going to Paris.

Easier to say that considering it's the Olympics, but it's probably the best decision for her as far as the 2024 season goes.

CC needs to continue to work on the turnovers but she's obviously getting more comfortable. By mid season, she'll be one of the best players in the league.

I said a week ago in two months she’ll be one of the 20 best players in the world. She isn’t now, but today was much more enjoyable. Eventually, her teammates will start catching her passes and she’ll know which ones not to throw… She still dribbles into tight, passing windows that she used to be able to get by with…

In my mind if the pass gets to the person and hits her hands that turnover is on them I don’t give a shit if they catch it or not, but if she throws a pass and it gets tipped out of her hands then that’s on her and it was a bad pass .

She’s going to get better and better with more reps and experience. I think her teammates have a very low ceiling and won’t get much better. To win games against good teams she going to have to go Maximus in the colosseum and will this rag tag group to competence.

Las Vegas leads LA at the half, 42-33.

Megan: 9 min, 0-3 (0%) from 3, 3-4 (75%) from 2, 0-0 FTs for 6 pts, 2 rebounds (1 offensive)

Kate: 11 min, 1-1 (100%) from 3, 0-0 (0%) from 2, 0-0 FTs for 3 pts, 3 rebounds (1 offensive), 2 assists

I see this as being a natural progression. Clark is eventually just going to do what she does and become undeniable, it's up to the rest of the folks to check their ego's and understand that.

There is nothing more counter productive than gate keeping old heads.

This just in, Kate Martin was and still is an absolute stud. We didn’t have as much talent on that team as Connecticut, LSU or South Carolina, but that might be one of the best teams we ever put on the floor. Hannah will play in the WNBA & maybe, “stressing maybe”…Sydney Affolter will too.

Boston, needs work. I’m shocked how many shots she misses @ 6-5. In my opinion, she should lean on her 10 foot jumper more often.

I agree with you. I believe that once some actual chemistry develops with that group, then some of these great passes (minus the bad ones of course) end up in the hands of players who, hopefully can learn to finish. That said, as time goes on, the players can get to the right spots to receive the passes and make good decisions from there.
The last game they played, on one play there was great spacing. Caitlin, drawing the attention she always gets, threw the ball to a teammate, who then whipped to another who then passed to the open player for the 3. That was nice! Need to see more of that IMO.

The big thing, and I missed the first five or six minutes, but it appeared to me that Christie Sides quit screwing around and said Caitlyn you’re the point guard get out there and orchestrate.

She looked waaayyyy more comfortable. Less frustrated and having fun!

I’m not sure she is compatible with this team’s starters. In particular Mitchell. Smith can’t play any worse and should come around some. Same for Boston. But Mitchell is a black hole.

I have a feeling that at some point (probably sooner than later), it's going to click for Caitlin and she's going to work out how to get her own shot against WNBA players. I think people underestimate how cerebral she is, she's processing the data right now.

Once it clicks, she's going to go off for 40 and it will become blatantly obvious the people who are going to refuse to go along for the ride.

If Caitlin is as great as I think she is, it will all work itself out.

The Fever missed 47 shots (!!!) today. How many were layups?

The Fever also had 15 sloppy turnovers.

In an 11 point loss, these wasted scoring opportunities were HUGE.
They really are terrible. Of course, that's why got the #1 draft pick.

The arena was sold out today. Why? Caitlin Clark was playing. Without Clark they could have held this game in a small town high school gym
