Indiana game....

Yes, I do, and it might be our second loss at that.

I hope you're right.

What have you seen from the Hawks this year that makes you believe we can beat Wisconsin and Northwestern but lose to Maryland and Indiana? Maryland is just plain terrible, and Indiana has possibly the worst defense in the conference.

Yeah I agree. Could Iowa lose to these teams? Sure, but to date evidence has shown this Iowa team has a very good chance of winning both.

Things that make you go hmmm...

Lots of Iowa fans say they don't expect the Hawks to be an elite team...but being in the top 25 yearly shouldn't be that far of a stretch. And maybe every 4-5 years play for the BIG championship.

The thing about that...if we look at the teams that are perennially in the top 25...I don't see a large portion of their own fan base consistently talking about the games they are going to lose.

And I certainly don't see them picking out teams with losing records (yes, I know IU is 4-4) and explaining all the reasons why their team is going to lose.

I guess I have to ask just how much evidence this year's team needs to inspire complete confidence against teams that have proven this year they are pretty much exactly what their records and stats indicates.

Indiana's defense to me is like watching that Oregon/AZ State game last night. In that game, ASU gained 700+ yards...and LOST.

Just how bad does a defense have to be to allow 700+ yards?

There's more than just a whiz-bang offense to winning football games, folks.

Until I see a team light Iowa up for 500 and 40+ this year, I have to trust that Iowa's offense is going to put up a lot of points against proven bad defenses in Maryland and Indiana - where their "potent offenses" - no matter how good they might be - just plain aren't going to score enough against Iowa's defense - a defense we know is fairly proven to be at the very least good/sound.

Every game makes me nervous...it's just natural. But to look ahead with any degree of reasonableness...one has to assume Iowa in both cases is the better, more well rounded team. No matter where they play the game.

Given Iowa's history, you can't blame our fans for being so guarded, especially in a season like this.

a healthy qb sudfeld and a healthy rb howard equals a tough game, even with a poor defense. if the hawks play turn over free football then they should win comfortably, not meaning a blow out but in control throughout, if they get careless with the ball indiana can make them pay.

Every game from here on out is going to make me nervous, but this one worries me the most. Minnesota who got crushed by Nebraska is beating Michigan now, so no B1G game is an automatic win.

u r a dh. but then most 'cubbie' fans are dickheads.

I am so sorry the school system failed you. At least I'm not the one on a Hawkeye message board saying how many more games they should lose. It must be awful for you to see them winning to much.
