*****Indiana vs Iowa Game Thread*****

Did I hear correctly, that Northwestern hoops team decided to not travel to LA next week? If so, those postponed games will obviously need to be rescheduled at some point.
It's the women I think that are not going to LA

It has been going on the whole time. There hasn't been a hurricane with as much power that has hit Texas since the biggie in Galveston since 1900. Was that climate change then too?
And I suppose you believe that the global temps aren't rising, along with the sea level... There have always been horrible disasters, but now the overall frequency and intensity are increasing. The West coast sees it with forest fires, after prolonged droughts and water levels down. The Gulf Coast sees it as the result of extremely warm water temps acting like rocket fuel for tropical storms... It isn't an accident that homeowner insurance costs are shooting up, at least in these areas. Many of those impacted by the fires in CA did not have insurance, and in some cases, insurance companies declined to offer it. I know it isn't convenient to talk about global warming, but if you have kids and grandkids, you might want to educate yourself.

LukaDuka continue to show that he knows nothing about the game. The Moline boys continue to show their worth for this Iowa men's basketball team.
Just think all of you naysayers have to watch another 2 more years of these 2 players and Owen isn't going anywhere, his game is not ready for the NBA no matter how you think he is. Owen 16 points, 12 rebounds, Brock 10 points, 10 assists, continue to look like dumbasses with your Brock is not BIG TEN talent. LOL
If Owen plays like he did against IU the rest of the season, Iowa is going to finish in the top third of the league and be in the dance. Most of this season, he has been a real disappointment. Not sure why.

Yeah. I've been really disappointed in his play until last night as well. I dunno. Maybe he came in out of shape ? Anyhow, first game this year that Iowa won the rebounding game against decent competition and Freeman was a huge reason why, on both counts. Needs to keep that energy going.

great coaching, according to my wife, Margaret.
I bet you stand in front of the mirror combing your hair back till it's just right, give yourself two thumbs up, then mosey out to the backyard and, with your hands in your pockets, look on as your dogs Patrick and Connor play.

OTOH, I could be wrong.

This was a game that Iowa actually looked more athletic than their BigTen opponent. Thelwell and the Harding look good together and defend well.

Will there been any hotel room available when the Hawks get there with so many people losing their homes burnt to the ground. They need some place to stay while trying to figure out the rest of their lives. GOOD GRIEF NOBODY SHOULD GO THROUGH SOMETHING LIKE THAT IN THEIR LIFE....
Something we can agree on...lol

The Santa Anna winds have been blowing there for centuries.

Several posters keep saying "wait until he goes up against tough Big Ten teams" Well, he has played against lots of Big Ten teams and equivalent teams already this season and has delivered.
Did you watch the Wisky game? He was the worst player on the court. He didn't show up when the team needed him the most with Thelwell out. And the Nebbie game where lil Hoiberg out played Brock?

Yes, I wish those same posters would post how many Iowa point guards have had double digit games in the Big Ten, they continue to post that Brock is too small to play for Iowa or in the Big Ten, he plays defense, hands out assists, and scores close to double digits, but they still can't make themselves believe he's legit. Here's hoping they continue to make asses of themselves as the season moves along.
Did you watch the Wisky game? The Nebbie game? It's easy to shine in blow out wins. But when your team needs you the most and you suck up the court, that's how you separate yourself from the mediocrity. He's a decent enough player to put up numbers in blow outs, but he needs to show better in these games the team is shorthanded. He benefits greatly with Thelwell in the game. I wouldn't say the opposite that Thelwell benefits from Brock in the game.

Brock still takes terrible shots in the lane and still over dribbles. He needs to improve vastly.

I think Fran maybe gave Owen and the rest of the team the "Mick Cronin" speech. Fired their asses up. lol

If they do they would be wrong. He might be the Hawks most important player right now
Freeman is probably Iowa's most important player. Dix is our consistently best overall player, and Thelwell is a great team player on both ends. But without Owen, we are weak in the middle. In most games this year (IU and Utah exceptions), we have not seen the Freeman most of us expected this year. When the active, ready to kick butt, Owen shows up, Iowa is a different team. Payton can be a difference maker either way. He can shoot us out of a game or into a game. He is usually a liability on defense, but does go after boards. Harding is mostly a positive force and helps to make the offense flow, but with Thelwell and Dix, he is the third fiddle in the backcourt. Glad he is on the team, but he is far from the most important player. It would be easier to argue that he is the least important player in the starting lineup.

Got his hands on the ball maybe twice as much as the next closest player. Maybe a bit of hyperbole to be the most important, but he is super important in my eyes

When's the last time you visited an optometrist Magoo? To HoustonREDhawk's point, he's the least important player in the starting lineup. That's a fact.

In fairness, I like the 3-guard lineup with him in it. I think it is our best lineup. Without Harding we would be struggle keeping a PG on the floor, so he is important.

I don't disagree. Especially if they continue with the zone defense they played against Indiana. The last three games teams were targeting BH on the defensive end. The zone D takes that away. The Indiana game was the best effort defensively I've seen this year. & Freeman's lack of fouls & shot blocking was also a big part of the effective defensive effort.

Freeman looked like a different player than we have been watching most of the season. He had his quickness and energy back, was defending the basket without reaching, hitting the boards, and posting up more. FT shooting has sucked, and he needs to learn to use his left hand to keep defenders honest.

Of course, the climate is changing. Every second of every day it's changing, for however long this earth has exited it's changing. But if you are claiming it is man made. You can never prove that. There's no way to get an accurate measurement of the temperature of the earth.

They were all terrible in the Wisconsin game except Thredwell. Brock had 10 points and 5 assists and only 2 turnovers. His shooting was fine.
Are you stupid naturally or by choice. Hoiberg had 6 points and 3 assists while Brock had 8 points and 7 assists. Brock did have his worst shooting night of the season. I think the overall average is a better representation. He is shooting .450 (.395 3pt) 98 assists - 38 TO 9.8 scoring average and around 6 assists per game.
Just keep exposing your IQ. 🤣

Most scientists sure believe in overall global warming. Shrinkage of the artic caps and rising levels of the ocean confirm it. It is not possible to precisely quantify man's contribution, but we definitely are contributing. I don't have that scientific background or knowledge in this area to explain, and it would piss off some of the folks wanting to read of Iowa BB if I tried. I do have a scientific background (decades ago), so I trust peer-reviewed scientific papers presented in reputable scientific journals. This is not a bunch of "woke" people expressing their personal opinions, it is scientific fact. I was trying to let this go, since this is a sports site. I probably started this with what I thought was just a factual statement about the wild fires. I apologize to anyone annoyed by reading this discussion.

One has decreased a little and one has increased a little. Basically, the ice caps are almost the same volume.

Maybe sea levels have risen 4 inches in 33 years. To say that man is the cause or this is catastrophic is unfounded. The Earth is always in a constant change. It use to be covered with ice and it use to be very hot. It has always been that way and will continue to be that way.

Mostly against cupcakes. He needs to show up when the team needs him most. And Hoiberg certainly out hustled him IMO.

I somewhat agree, but believe these weather "patterns" run in cycles. Wouldn't surprise me to see a few colder years coming. But WTF do I know.... I know NOTHING...

Is it universal law that bad shooting three point teams cannot miss against Iowa teams?
