main reasons. Their WR's are superior ours and their QB (if healthy) is a pro prospect pocket passer. Without the wind and cold; this will put tremendous pressure on our DB's especially with our pass rushing ability.

Everyone outside of iowa is saying we dont have a chance and that Vegas is way off. Why even play the game?! Hell let's just forfeit.

I did not say we were going to lose, I believe we would have a better chance outside with a 32 degree temp and a 15 MPH wind.

So you are saying that MSU is a better team, and that our best chance is for mother nature to help us out by handicapping their advantages?

Playing indoors is going to benefit BOTH teams. Both teams will be able to play the game without having to worry about weather altering the outcome. The team that plays the best will win. From what I've seen this year, I'm calling it a toss-up.

It's a good thing our WR's don't play their WR's. We match up well with them, I like our chances.

I don't think B1G fans see it that way, Iowa is well respected by the fans who know your team the best. I think it is a toss up game that will probably be decided in the last couple of minute either way. As for the national guys, who cares the winner goes to the playoffs!

Q: Who has the better running game, secondary and special teams?
A: Iowa

You win battles and wars on the ground.

There's a reason they call it 'air support'.

i doubted our wrs coming into this year, but as the year has gone on, I realized how dead wrong I was. They won't streak by you, but they catch everything in sight. Quite possibly the best pass catching pair of wrs, I've seen at Iowa in quite some time.

I called CJ and told him to stay home. Seems this game is all wrapped up anyway. Might as well start prepping for the bowl game. Do we even need to go to that game either?

Don't forget about TE production. ;)

msu is the better team. They should win.

That doesn't mean they're going to.

Being the better team, by a LOT, didn't win it for them in lincoln.

Being the better team didn't help tosu in the shoe.

The better team doesn't always win. We all know this.

How do we know OSU is better than MSU? They haven't been playing at a high level consistently all year and their schedule was easy.

Completely agree, SJD! People are quick to confuse superior talent with superior teams. The two are far too often mutually exclusive. Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.

Iowa.

MSU.

Can't wait!

tosu was favored. tosu demolished michigan in ann arbor the following week.

I say tosu is the better team, overall, for the same reason that msu is clearly the better team than nebby.

If the better team on paper always won, then no need to play the games.

Disagree, and here's why...

If you mean that OSU is a better collection of talent, I don't disagree.

However, that's not what we're trying to figure out...is it?

Who plays best - together - with excellence in results - over the full season?

Better teams don't sleepwalk through the season and then 'turn it on' at the end.

MSU fought through a MYRIAD of injuries across the board and persevered throughout. Yes, they got bit by Nebraska, but came back in a HUGE way with backup QBs against said sleepwalking 'team'.

MSU doesn't have the talent that OSU has - few if any (outside of USC) does - but they DO have the better team, and proved it throughout the season.

Just sayin' ... :)

We have to hope they aren't too sexy and we sneak by em for the win 24-21
Hope?

Hope is for the weak.

Hope is for those who have given up.

As far as Iowa is concerned, MSU has the title belt and they have to take it - earn it - win it outright.

MSU can feel comfortable that they've been in this CCG fight before - and that's all good and dandy - but Iowa is preparing to beat the champ.

It's going to be 70-30 Iowa fans in Indy Saturday night - so this won't be a neutral field.

Think.

Find your peace.

And then learn how to believe.

As far as MSU is concerned they're playing Iowa for the vacated belt (tOSU is the defending BIG champs). MSU will be just as hungry and motivated...they know they have to take the game from Iowa also.

FWIW...Indy was 75/25 Scarlet and Gray fans our last trip to Indy.

Indoors favors CJ.

I love Saturdays when you're looking for a win and Sunday mornings when you found one!!!

Iowa is playing indoors as well. There superior Tight ends and awesome QB will put tremendous pressure on their whole defense to try and keep up. Not too mention the fact the Hawks have 4 horsemen and a better mascot.

Go Hawks!

I disagree, our offense becomes 3-dimensional for the first time in months. Solid running & passing game, with a healthy mobile qb with no weather issues? When was the last time we playedwith a healthy QB this year?

My thoughts exactly. At the same time, I agree with the above statement that both teams will benefit from playing indoors. I'm looking forward to seeing the game decided by execution in ideal conditions without inclement weather playing any role. I do think it will help with CJ's mobility. Considering that Cook isn't real mobile and that he probably won't be taking chances running it with the bad shoulder, I think the indoor venue favors us a little overall.

Looking forward to a great game!

plus, with this game being on Saturday night vs. Saturday afternoon that is a big advantage for MSU. Since Saturday night is closer to Sunday, and we all know Cook is a pro prospect pocket passer and will have a much better chance of playing on Sundays than CJ. Hopefully the Hawks can overcome all of these obstacles.

Go Hawks!!

Good luck.

1. Our WR's don't play against their WR's, and our DB's are superior to theirs.
2. Don't count CJ out, he was, after all 2nd team all B1G, behind Connor Cook. Connor's arm may like the warm, but so will CJ's legs.

When does Iowa's D struggle? When it's a pocket passer? or when it's a guy that can get out and make plays outside the pocket? I worry about Connor Cook and his WR's too, but let's not count ourselves out, our DB's can play a little too!

The indoor surface is a big reason why I hope Wadley gets his share of carries. It benefits his burst through the line and lateral step at the second level. If the line can get him through (which, of course, is key), could be a special night for him.

Not discounting Canzeri either.

Ohio State would be favored over MSU by about 4 points on a neutral field (from what I've heard). I understand the argument that MSU may be a better team in that they play together better.

However, I also recognize that it is not my job to make betting lines. The people in Vegas put much more time into this kind of thing that any of us common fans, and that's why us common fans cannot consistently make money gambling on sports. If I could do that, I would. Any common fan out there thinking that they can beat Vegas is fooling themselves.

With that said, to SDHawkDoc's point, the better team doesn't always win. A 4 point spread is a very slim margin. Iowa has an excellent chance of beating MSU, but if push came to shove and I had to put money on it, I'd say MSU is more likely to win.

Anyone who says that MSU is better than OSU, or that Iowa is better than both teams is essentially saying they know more than Vegas. If that's true, those people could quit their day jobs and just gamble on sports.

We know what this guy would say:

I'm not much for giving inspirational addresses, but I'd just like to point out that every newspaper in the country has picked us to finish last. The local press seems to think that we'd save everyone the time and trouble if we just went out and shot ourselves. Me, I'm for wasting sportswriters' time. So I figured we ought to hang around for a while and see if we can give 'em all a nice big shitburger to eat!

You sound like the religious guy that, in response to an atheist logic, says "well, you just have to have faith."

If I were in Vegas, I would take MSU and give the -3.5. I HOPE I'm wrong.

i think the indoor element is to our benefit so marshall has a better shot of nailing all of his extra pts.

Vegas is FAR more accurate with NFL lines than they are with CFB lines, for very obvious reasons.

How is MSU the better team? They have a loss vs a team we beat (in Lincoln) and our weather was much worse then when Sparty played.

I absolutely think Iowa's got a shot Vroom.
But, Hawks are the underdog.
msu has better big wins than Iowa, which I think makes up for their bad loss to nebby.

Play the game 10 times, msu wins most of them.

But, not all.
