INSIDER INFO

They’ll have an extra $2.5 million next year from the House settlement, so without any increase at all, they’ll be at $4 million.

$5 million isn’t a stretch at all.

Now, every other B1G SEC school will have the same increase.

Yes, I'm well aware of that. I've written several post about Rev Share on the WBB forum. Chad L wrote about the coming $2.5MM Rev Share amount for MBB in a recent article. Plus, Brad's Swarm would need to raise $2MM more just to get iMBB total NIL to $4.5MM.

However, what Ladell-hawk was saying is "Swarm raised 5-6 million total for all sports last year."
So raising donations last year in my mind is not talking about House Settlement $. House Settlement Rev Share is up and above the donations raised and that only starts after July 1st of this year. Rev Share did not exist last year as stated in his quote. He also stated total 5-6MM for all sports where your #s only include MBB.

Just win baby.....that will bring in the money

How do you know what men’s basketball will get from revenue sharing, just asking ?

Dated 03/19/2025
"Thus, Iowa is expected to allocate $2.5 million in revenue-sharing toward men’s basketball."

"Goetz acts quickly in response to the DeVries fallout and works collectively with Brad Heinrichs, the Iowa SWARM Collective CEO, to put together a promised package of NIL funds. Iowa will need a minimum of $4.5 million and probably at least $5 million – meaning $2.5 million in revenue-sharing, at least $2 million via the SWARM – to be able to attract a men’s basketball coach that can win. The money doesn't have to be in place right this second, but the wheels need to be in motion to raise that money by July 1."

I think he was suggesting total between House and Swarm, but maybe not? That’s the only thing that makes sense, so if he is suggesting that is just Swarm money, then ya, I’m with you.

If not, then they found some money. That’s also plausible. Someone sick of Fran that was ready to give when he was gone?

I don’t have the accounting records for Iowa’s NIL, so literally anyone could be correct, and I couldn’t disagree with 100% certainty.

Either way, it doesn’t matter if we know. It’s not like we are forced to pay a tax to support Swarm.

I’ve heard Beth on a few interviews and she’s indicated in the range of 15ish% for MBB. Certainly not final, but it’s what she’s thinking anyway…
Of course you know our competition will have revenue sharing as well. So increasing our nil will still be very important.

Iowa doesn’t have 5 million for basketball, Swarm raised 5-6 million total for all sports last year.

Think you might be referencing this article?

Dated 08/15/24 - Swarm Collective keeps Iowa competitive in NIL space as ‘price tags keep going up’

"It’s at the point now that the men’s basketball price tag is “north of $1 million, closer to $1.5 million,” and football is “around $4 million.”"

"Heinrichs estimated about 60 percent of Swarm’s revenue comes from “Joe Iowa fan giving $20 a month, that kind of thing.”

The other 40 percent comes from corporate support [beer, drinks, shirt sales, casino(s) donations etc]."

"Swarm is “just shy of 3,000 donating members,” Heinrichs said."

Guess that means ~$5.4MM between FB + MBB alone. Looks like Brad ventured off his 80/10/10 model considerably.

A program like Iowa, with BMac as coach, could do some real damage getting NIL bargains from conferences just a level down from the P4 (ie MWC, etc). No reason to look at P4 players.
This cannot be overstated. I don't know if there's a better coach in the country that can find diamonds in the rough that would thrive in his system than BMac. This would be an absolute grand slam hire.

Got some info tonight from someone who knows past and current players. A very reliable source in my opinion.
McCollum is a done deal to Iowa.
Good chance Fran might be headed to Penn, taking Connor as an Asst. if he takes job. Obviously, young brother heads along too.
Mulvey already has a school picked out, too.
For those who questioned my source...
McCollum hired.
Fran to Penn
Mulvey to Siena.
Hat Trick!!
