Iowa’s 6 week abortion ban has an exemption for rape survivors. But, there is a catch.

This is how I know you didn’t comprehend the story.
Of course. If someone disagrees with you it's because they are an idiot. Works for you every time. Not true of course but it makes you feel better so who cares.

Really? I could have sworn I read there were exceptions for rape and incest and the health of the mother.

You were wrong. The "exceptions" are toothless.
Why don't you post the specific language on those "exceptions" and folks here can explain why they do not work.

6 weeks is not a real compromise. I would encourage DooBi and anyone else on the "pro life" side who is attempting to engage in earnest discussion to look into the research on "pregnancy recognition." A large percentage of pregnancies aren't recognized until sometime after the 6 week mark. Unplanned pregnancies are even more likely to go unrecognized to a later gestational age. 6 weeks is a de facto ban for a lot of women; even just a couple more weeks would be a much better compromise.
24 weeks, or viability, is a completely adequate compromise.

Because pregnancy complications can arise at ANY time during a pregnancy, and there is no reason a woman/family have to take on costs and risks when they may have other children to take care of. And no reason those children should risk having a parent die due to delayed care.

70 percent of Iowans do not support this law, and the GQP is doing everything they can to keep Iowans from voting on it. Losses in states like Kansas, Ohio, and what looks like a big loss coming up in ruby red SD is driving fear among Republican leaders. Abortion is a losing issue when the citizens of states get to vote on it.

If 70% of Iowans don't support this law then it will be changed,.. Probably won't happen immediately, but given time the will of the people wins out...

JESUS H ****ING CHRIST! I am ****ing involved yet unfortunately there is too many morons like you silencing my voice in this state. It is absolutely ****ing wild we are even having this conversation. A ****ing corpse has more bodily autonomy than a living breathing woman. No one would bat an eye if someone like rifler did not donate his organs and then little Jimmy (an already living breathing person) died because he couldn't have that organ. Yet the Riflers of the world FREAK the **** out about a bunch of cells that aren't even a person yet. It is absolutely mind boggling.

You seem angry...

A lot of women will die during this "time". A lot of rape victims, many children, will be forced to give birth during this "time". They don't HAVE time.

People die everyday,.. This law will eventually adjust to a compromise position that a majority of Iowans will accept,.. But understand that whatever it becomes, it will never be considered acceptable by all.

I love this caring reply. "My mom died." "Moms die everyday." That's what you sound like. A typical, don't give a shit Republican.
