I love jbo but the stats say he wasn’t adding a lot to this team this year.
Just a killer to the depth too, foul trouble or someone not able to go, danger zone time.A lot of truth in this. He's been a contributor but truth is his health and play thus far is not the reason Iowa has been winning games. I do think they will miss some of his leadership and calmness on the floor.
His value this year was much more than stats. His presence on the court NEAR the 3 pt line made opposing coaches start screaming.I love jbo but the stats say he wasn’t adding a lot to this team this year.
That would be the 1st time since Alford promised the world we can legitimately say that.
10 assists and zero turnovers against ISU say you are wrong. Plus, he is our best freethrow shooter and the main ballhandler in tight games because other teams don't want to foul him. If that isn't effecting the games then........I love jbo but the stats say he wasn’t adding a lot to this team this year.
Agree that Iowa will miss JBo’s handle, calm presence, and at least perceived threat (this year) from the perimeter. The way he handled ISU pressure towards the end of that game was a thing of beauty.10 assists and zero turnovers against ISU say you are wrong. You realize Jordan created his own lanes. Other players skip and jump. Who is going to create?Fredrick, Wieskamp, Connor, Toussaint, and Garza and even Kriener can all shoot free throws at a respectable rate of 70% and above.
It was quite comforting when Jordan was at the line knowing he was almost automatic, but we should be alright and although his production is going to be missed, that part of Iowa's game should be well represented.

Connor is shooting 90%+ at the line this year. He is strong with the ball and will help fill in for JoBo in shooting FTs at the end of games.
Just for historical context, I would note again that Iowa's 14-0 Big Ten champions of 1970 played with a SIX-MAN rotation. That team averaged over 100 points per game in conference play long BEFORE the three-point shot.
That was one of the greatest teams in Iowa history, but it had NO depth whatsoever after those six guys.
The current Iowa team is less talented, but barring further serious injuries, an 8-man rotation should be plenty for the Hawkeyes to have an outstanding season. And as some others have noted, Iowa will be developing some young players at the same time. It won't be perfect, but Joe T's upside is huge, and CJ Fredrick is a JBo-type assassin who will now have the opportunity to show it.
Regardless of what happens tonight, I like this team because it has the swagger and attitude and toughness most recent Iowa teams have sorely lacked. That will carry the day over the long haul.
Cincy was 7 seed last year. Did they graduate a lot? Not to disparage the Hawks at all, but what’s up it cincy? Their coach left?
